Jack's P.o.V
"I love you, daddy." Evelyn cries into my shoulder. My heart races, tears forming in my eyes.
"I love you too, Evelyn." I say, my voice chocked up so it comes out as a whisper.
I hold my little girl close to me as she cries, a few tears spilling from my eyes as well. I begin to imagine this moment in different stages of her life. Holding her like this after a nightmare and promising to give Pitch a hard snowball to the face. Kissing a boo-boo on her knee to magically fix it. Calming her down when her powers scared her. Days we'll never get back.
When she calms down, I realize she's asleep. I carry her to her bed and tuck her in, kissing her forehead.
I hear soft footsteps and look behind me. Elsa walks in, her face slightly pink. "You alright?" I ask.
"Your fatherly side is really touching, that's all." she replies.
"How much did you hear?" I ask.
"Since you were talking about reversing time." she tells me. I put my arm around her.
"I'm a father. What else would I want?" I ask.
"Like I said, this side of you is very touching." she says. We look at Evelyn sleeping peacefully. "We've done a good job the past few months, I think."
I squeeze her, "Yeah, we have."
The next morning at breakfast, Evelyn walks in silently.
"Good morning, did you sleep well?" I ask.
"Good morning. I did, how about you?" she replies.
"Very well, thank you." I say.
"Evelyn, your father and I were thinking, if you wanted to, we could practice with your powers instead of your usual things." Elsa says.
"Yeah, that sounds great." Evelyn says. Then, Anna and Kristoff enter.
"Morning, guys!" Anna greets cheerfully.
"Good morning." we reply.
"You all seem very lively today." she says sarcastically. "What are you all planning to do today?"
"We're going to help Evelyn with her powers." I tell them.
"You two can have her in the afternoon, Kristoff and I want to show her around." she says.
"That sounds fun." Evelyn says. She looks down and plays with her food.
We chat for a while, but Evelyn stays silent. I glance at her frequently and see she's always playing with her food, looking sad.
"Excuse me, I'm gonna go get ready." she says finally, standing up and leaving.
"Something's up with her." I say after she's gone.
"Jack, it's been a day since her breakup, it'll take a while." Elsa says.
"Yeah, but I don't think being sad over a breakup causes you to not eat." I say.
"It's just breakfast, there are still two other meals. There's no need to worry yet. You'll know when it's time to worry." she says.
I begin to think about her slowly gaining her powers, then realize, "Wait, Evelyn's powers are slowly coming back."
"Yeah, and?" Elsa asks.
"So, she has the resistance, then the powers...." I think out loud.
"Yes, what else could there be?" she replies.
