In Their Dreams
"RUN!" Ray yelled.
Dela listened to the boy's words.
Knowing she had to escape, she started running towards the island's forest, offset from the shoreline. Ray followed closely behind her as the now massive wave came closer and closer to crashing down on the two.
In a quick second, the wave broke against the surface in flashes of white and dark blue, almost engulfing the fleeing teens.
Dela and Ray both simultaneously ducked down and closed their eyes and mouth as they got drenched by the wave.
The wave was strong, and the pull of the tide was sweeping the teens back out to the raging sea.
"Ray!" Dela screamed helplessly.
"Hold onto something!" Ray managed to yell back.
For the second time in the span of a few minutes, Dela listened to Ray's words, putting her full trust in him.
She was close enough to a rock that looked grabbable and so in a matter of seconds she wrapped her arms tightly around the rock, holding onto it for her dear life, waiting for the madness to be over.
On the other hand, Ray's words weren't reciprocated to himself.
Nothing around him was grabbable. He flailed his arms around in hopes that his arms would meet something hard, but nothing was there.
