xxx— mum.

A kitten. A kitten as black as coal, with Slytherin-green eyes and small paws, with a small white mark over one of her back feet. "Oh my god!" Pansy squealed, immediately going to scratch the purring creature behind the ear. "Lottie! Come look!"

The redhead walked over, took one look at the little kitten, and screeched. "OH MY GOD HOLY SHIT—" she jumped behind Mali, using the girl as a protective shield. "WHAT THE FUCK IS SATAN DOING IN OUR DORMS?"

Mali was cackling. "Sa— Satan?" She wheezed. "It's a kitten."

"I said what I said," Lottie sniffed.

"You're so dramatic."

"Little Demon," Pansy cooed, giggling as the cat fell over on her back.

"Demon," Mali pondered. "That's a cute name."

Lottie glared. "On what world is that a cute name?"

"By the way," Pansy interrupted. "Happy birthday, Malice."

Mali had decided to not have any sort of gathering, seeing as Muggleborns were being petrified and some creepy monster thing was about the castle, a birthday party seemed in bad taste.

Of course, this couldn't stop her friends from giving her gifts, or making a ridiculously big deal out of the date.

"Professor, what would you say today's date is?" Astoria blurted in the middle of potions.

"Are you incompetent, Greengrass?" Snape drawled. "It's February nineteenth. Go back to work."

"Did someone say February nineteenth?" Blaise called loudly, causing the entirety of the class to look at him strangely. Mali sighed, placing her head in her hands in defeat.

"Gee, February nineteenth?" It was Lottie's turn to be loud. At this point, the students clad in green were stifling their laughter, and most of the Gryffindors just looked confused. Realization seemed to dawn of Snape's face, though he quickly masked it with boredom, rolling his eyes.

"Get it over with," he muttered.

"Theo," Pansy pondered. "I've forgotten, what's going on today, on February nineteenth?"

Ron snorted into his palm, and Harry was grinning. Hermione looked peeved by the fact that they had disrupted class.

"Why, Parkinson," Theo continued. "I believe that on today, february nineteenth, it's Malice Arabella Fallon's birthday."
