"sorry, just— wow, i was not expecting you to be fit."

     Mali was stressed, thoroughly stressed.

For one, she barely had a moment alone. Draco was constantly attached to her hip, the two of them studying maniacally after McGonagall had announced that exams would be taking place. Not to mention, she couldn't go anywhere alone without a teacher accompanying her, and she hadn't seen Cedric in ages.

Which lead to her second cause of stress: Cedric. Her best friend seemed to take up much of her mind lately, ever since her birthday when he had looked at her in that strange way, and her stomach had flipped in a manner even stranger. Malice Fallon was no idiot, she understood what that meant; she fancied her best friend. It was horrid.

The third: The chamber of secrets! She had long since figured out that the monster must be some sort of snake, but no matter her search in the library, she couldn't find the type of monster she was looking for. In one book, she thought she may be close, but found nothing except for a chapter with a page that had been ripped out, ending her hopes.

And finally: Apparently, she could see the future, though she had zero control over which events she was able to foresee. McGonagall and Dumbledore hadn't offered a lick of advice or guidance, so it was a constant source of confusion pestering the back of her mind.

Granger had been petrified, and Mali couldn't even enjoy the fact that she was petrified due to her unending stress.

She'd hardly eaten in two weeks, not through studying and searching and worrying about Ginny— because merlin that girl looked so pale— and the bags under Mali's eyes had deepened significantly, her ribs were starting to show, she was constantly freezing and nobody seemed to notice.

"Let me get this straight— you think Moaning Myrtle is the Muggleborn that was killed?"

"Aragog told us she was found in a bathroom," Harry explained.

Malice had snuck out to the kitchens, where she had met the boys. It was late, and difficult to escape the professors, but Harry had his invisibility cloak and the kitchens were significantly closer to the dungeons than the third floor, so that was the spot they had chosen. It was Ron's idea to tell her.

"Without Hermione— well, you and me, we're not exactly geniuses, right? We need at least one smart person."

"Right— Aragog— the massive killer-spider that you imbeciles followed into the forest, along with his two trillion killer-spider babies," the girl deadpanned, raising one eyebrow.

"Er— yeah. He was afraid, though. He said the spiders are terrified of the monster, or whatever. They don't even say it's name, kinda like they're own spider-Voldemort."

Suddenly, a piece fell into place, causing the girl to let out a loud gasp. "Oh my— oh my god. Oh my god!"

     "What?!" Ron cried, alarmed.
