--Valor POV--

Thump-Thump-Thump.

I groaned and stirred in my sleep. Suddenly a blinding light pierced through my eyelids. I whined and turned over. When the morning sun maneuver didn't work, my assailant decided that breakfast time called for drastic measures. I felt the bed dip down as the enemy made up his mind that a few bruises were worth the precious extra seconds we would get when we went to town for the morning meal. My body started bouncing up and down.

"Wake up Ree!" I heard him shout as he jumped on my bed. When I made no move to rise from the comfort and warmth of my bed, he stuck his finger in my ear. I muttered something about him being annoying and childish and pulled the covers over my ears. Then he did something truly moronic. He grabbed the blankets I was currently entangled in and wrapped them around my face. Then he sat on my chest. I screamed and flung him across the room. In the process I may have accidentally hit him in the –ahem— place where the sun don't shine. I sat up, breathing heavily.

"Why would you do something like that?!?" We shouted in unison. He was referring to where I kicked him and I was referring to the fact that he tried to suffocate me. I leaned over the edge of the bed, my midnight black hair getting in my face. I looked over to where he had fallen on the other side of my small room. My room was square in shape and had maroon walls. The twin sized bed was right under the window. I had a small wooden desk that was crowded with random drawings and other assorted artistic supplies. Dick had fallen right in front of my closet which was in the wall next to my door. My idiotic best friend lay there on the hardwood floor groaning and making unintelligible sounds of pain when Trix bolted into the room, almost smacking Dick with the door.

"What happened?! Who got hurt?! Is the ceiling intact?!" She asked frantically as she looked up. Finding no hole in the roof, she turned her attention to me.

"Geez, mom, it only happened once." I grumbled. She looked at me standing in the middle of the room. My raven black hair framed my heart shaped face. My two-toned eyes, one emerald green and the other richest gold with crimson flecks spattered around, popped from my olive skin tone. My hair held elements of golden blonde, deep scarlet and dark chocolate brown. The flame red in my hair was the most prominent and as I stood, the light from the window highlighted my hair, giving me a blood-red halo. I pointed to Dick who slowly started to get up.

"He tried to suffocate me to wake me up and I accidentally kicked him in the... nether region." I explained. She nodded like this was a normal thing. Trix was a very nice person. She was kind and gentle. She was pretty too. She had honey blonde hair and baby blue eyes. All her years in the circus had built up her muscle and created a beautiful woman with talent and grace. She never tripped or dropped anything. Even when she contorted and used her feet. I was a clumsy potato compared to her. Her husband, Orion, had sandy hair and dark chocolate eyes. He was a tightrope walker, while Trix was a contortionist.

"Bye, Mom." Dick croaked out as he made his way over to me.

"Yeah, we'll be down in a minute." I added. I never understood our thing for calling each other's parents "Mom" and "Dad". It was a strange tradition we came up with. We spent so much time together that we might as well, right? I noticed something and frowned at Dick in disapproval.

"You were going through my closet again, weren't you!" I accused him. He looked down at his forest green Dauntless Fosters t-shirt and grinned sheepishly.
