When life gets messy, it usually doesn't stop in one thing. A series of unfortunate events keeps happening and it just gets harder and harder up until the point all that you can feel is the agonising pain of what is going to happen next.

Natalie Turner was always the kind of woman who fought everyday. Even if with every step she took, she could feel the pressure on her chest. Her breath getting stuck on her throat and not reaching her lungs. But, she fought. That was the only way she knew how to survive.

And after Isaac's decision to fight with her over the custody if Amber. She kept fighting. And that very morning she was fighting to get people on her side.

"What do you mean he asked you first?" Natalie was on the phone as she entered the hospital that morning. She was talking to Mike, Amber's godfather, and a good friend from school of Natalie and Isaac. Natalie needed people to help her in court. She needed someone to testify that she was actually a good mom. "This is unbelievable. You're supposed to be my friend too. No, I don't want to hear it. It's nice to know that he was the one who screwed up but I am the one who lost all her friends." She hanged up the phone, without waiting for a reply.

"Everything okay?" Derek asked her when he saw her. And they started walking together towards the attendings lounge.

"No." Natalie confessed. "I've been trying to get any of friends from back home to actually help me. But Isaac... I don't know what he's done to them. I have no one. Literally. It's not like I can ask my own mother to testify for me. There is no one." Natalie was getting desperate. She could see Isaac winning Amber's custody and she wasn't sure how to handle that.

"I can help if you want." Derek suggested. He was fond of Natalie. And they were close enough to actually help her. "I mean, we've been friends for a couple of months now. I know Amber, I am a catch, you want me on your side."

"And here I thought that Sloan has the biggest ego." Natalie said playfully, but she still smiled thankful that she had someone for a change. She always acted like she could handle things on her own, but it was getting a little out of hand, even for her.

"No, you do actually." Derek mocked her.

"Going to ignore that." Natalie rolled her eyes, even if she knew that it was true. "You'd really testify for me?"

"Yeah, of course. You're my friend." Derek reassured her.

"Thank you Derek, you're a good friend. I guess I can use a friend for a change." Natalie replied and as they were ready to get in the elevator, the chief stopped them by the O.R. board.
