Adriel and Ana lounged comfortably on the sofa, their bodies nestled into the cushions as they relaxed in each other's company. Ana sighed contentedly as Adriel's gentle hands traced soothing circles along her ankles. The soft glow of the lamp illuminated their features, casting gentle shadows across the room.
"Are you planning on telling Luella about Elijah?" Ana asked
Adriel stopped rubbing her ankles and looked at her "I will, soon"
Ana nodded and shut her eyes just to rest for a while however as the doorbell chimed, Ana's attention was drawn away from the cozy scene on the sofa. With a smile, she gently disentangled herself from Adriel's touch
"I'll get it" Crossing the room, she reached for the doorknob, her steps quickening with each stride. As she swung the door open, a rush of cool air greeted her, carrying with it the familiar scent of her mother and the sweet fragrance of her baby son.
"I need to go work, there's an emergency" Mrs carter rushed and handed Elijah over with a bag of spare clothes
"Mum where's his medicine?" Ana asked while patting her sons back
"In the bag, I'll see you at home" and she left
Ana grabbed the bag and put Elijah down allowing him to walk inside "Mama"
"Yes, baby?"
"Miss you," he said grinning
Ana picked Elijah up into her arms as he squealed and she started tickling him "Missed you too"
She walked inside and Adriel got up grabbing Elijah from Ana's arms "Hi"
"Hi" Elijah mumbled into his shoulder
Adriel and Anastasia laughed
"Mummy!" A voice echoed in the house
Adriel put his son on the sofa and without hesitation, he bounded up the stairs, his heart pounding with urgency. Upon reaching the doorway, he flung it open, his breath catching in his throat at the sight of her trembling form in the dim afternoon sun.
"Hey what's wrong?" Rushing to her side, he enveloped her in his arms, his touch a comforting sense amidst the chaos of her nightmare
"I want mummy" She sniffled
Adriel sighed "Luell-" he got cut off
"No! I want mummy" she sobbed "I wanna see mummy!"
Adriel started rubbing his sisters back "Baby, sh"
"Mummy left, I wanna see mummy again," she said into her brother's chest
"I know baby" Adriel placed a kiss on his sister's head. She would randomly wake up screaming for her mum and Adriel would run in to see her crying with her duvet over her head "I know"
