Jimin raised his head to look at the male smirking down at him, his large hands pressed tightly around his tiny waist.

“Jeon Jungkook, what are you doing here?” Jimin asked in surprise.

For some reason, all the fear that had been consuming him moments ago disappeared the instant he saw Jungkook. His body relaxed before his mind could stop it, melting into the younger male’s arms.

And that realization only made him more annoyed.

After everything Jungkook had revealed to him—after learning that he had been lied to, used, and nearly killed—why did his heart still react this way whenever Jungkook was near?

Jimin clenched his jaw.

I’m supposed to be angry with him.

Yet here he was, finding comfort in his arms.

He hated that Jungkook had grown on him.

“Of course I came to meet you, and nobody touches what’s mine,” Jungkook growled, directing his words toward the two stalkers.

The two men immediately shivered and gulped when they realized who stood before them. Their boss had warned them about Jeon Jungkook—the ruthless man they should never provoke.

Before Jimin could say anything, Jungkook buried his head against his chest and raised his gun.

Two gunshots echoed through the night.

Jimin gasped and snapped his eyes shut, instinctively clinging tighter to Jungkook as the sound sent fear rushing through him.

Jungkook chuckled.

Slowly, Jimin opened his eyes and cautiously peeked at the two dead men lying on the ground.

His stomach twisted.

“Why did you kill them? We should have taken them to the police station,” Jimin gasped, sending Jungkook a furious glare.

Jungkook merely chuckled.

“I don't swing that way. Besides, this will serve as a warning to anyone else thinking about coming after you.”

Jimin sighed and shook his head solemnly.

Of course.

Typical Jungkook.

He should have been angry. He was angry. But somehow, beneath all that frustration, there was relief.

At least Jungkook had come.

“Thank you, Kookie, for coming for me,” Jimin said softly, looking straight into Jungkook’s eyes.

Jungkook hummed before flashing his famous bunny smile.

Jimin's heart fluttered traitorously.

He immediately looked away and awkwardly cleared his throat.

Seriously? After everything he did, my heart still does this?

“But you know you guys caused this,” Jimin continued, his voice becoming sharper. “I'm just a little human who was living his life peacefully before you two came along and turned it into hell for me.”

There was a clear accusation in his voice.

Jungkook threw his head back in laughter.

The laughter stopped when Jimin gave him a hard look.

“What's so funny?” Jimin snapped.

Jungkook simply stared at him, the corner of his lips still curved upward.
