Mia's POV

The metal door opened and I looked up.
I've been locked in here for a few hours now, and the screams and sounds coming from outside filled me with horror.

At the entrance stood Liam. He had a worried look. I didn't call him so I couldn't make out what he was doing here. I kept praying that nothing happened to Dante.

- What are you doing here?

He ran up to me and grabbed my hand pulling me out of the dim room.

- What's wrong? Where's Dante?

- He told me to come and get you.

I stopped I wasn't leaving without Dante.

- Mia come on! We need to leave.

I pulled my hand out of his grip.

- I'm not leaving without Dante.

- Please Mia just listen to me. Think about what he wants. He probably wants you in a safe place so he wouldn't need to worry about you.

I looked down. He was right but I didn't want to leave him.

- Don't make it even harder for him.

I gave it some thought and ended up nodding. I followed him to the entrance.

We went outside and I saw my moms house burning. My jaw hung and I felt a sharp pain in my chest.

- Mom...No Mom!!

I yelled on top of my lungs until it hurt. I ran towards the burning house. Liam followed me. I searched for my mom in the darkness. I went to the house and called out for her. There was no response.

- No no no no...Mom! Mom where are you?!!

I kept yelling until what I saw shocked me.
I ran towards a tree. It felt like my heart skipped a beat as I watched my moms burnt, lifeless body by the tree.

Her body and face had multiple third degree burn marks covering her skin. I fell on my knees  hoping she was still alive. I lifted my hand touching her neck to see if she had a pulse.

I sobbed harder when there was nothing.
I looked at her and her eyes were still open. She was stiff and cold as I reached up to her face. I cupped her cheek and memories flashed in my mind. I remembered all the good times we spent together. When we went shopping together or when we went to have ice cream together, or when we just had fun.

And now I was sitting here by her dead body. I felt guilty that I didn't get her to come with me.

I raised my hand and touched her eyelids pulling them down. I hoped she could rest in peace after everything that has happened to her. After all the pain she's been through. She didn't deserve to die like this. She didn't deserve to die at all. She should've lived the rest of her life happily. She was such a cheerful person who always had a smile on her face. And now she's here alone and cold.

I screamed letting all my frustration and pain out.

- She didn't deserve this!! SHE DIDN'T DESERVE TO DIE LIKE THIS!!!!

I kept shouting and screaming. I was mad at myself. But mostly at Aldric. Right now he's the reason my mom died. And it hurt so much that I loved him and he ended up doing this behind our back. Right now I hated myself for loving that man.

- Mia we need to leave.

Liam caught my attention after another grenade hit the ground not so far from us. Dirt spurred over us and bright light filled the small area. I looked around and everything was burning. My eyes were burning from the tears that kept streaming down my face.

- I'm not leaving her here.

I said. She atleast deserves a proper funereal.

- We need to leave, they'll see us.

I looked back at my moms face and she seemed at peace. One of her eye was badly burnt. I wished I could see her smile just one more time with her glistening eyes. She was all I've had all these years. She was the one person I could always rely on. If Dante would die I wouldn't have anybody left. I wouldn't have anyone I could trust or rely on.

I knew Liam was right. We had to leave. But he couldn't expect me to just leave my mom here.

- Mia I'll send some men to get her body. She'll be okay.

Okay? How could he say that? She's gone and she'll never come back.  I'll never get to hug her again or here her sweet voice.
The thought made me mad but mostly sad.

I felt Liam grab my hand. He started pulling me up from my knees. I let him. And pulled me away from the burning tree. A massive branch fell of still burning. I looked back at it but my eyes landed on the lifless body of my mom. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I just wanted to run back to her and just be with her.

She slowly disapeared as we moved further into the dark forest. A car was waiting for us. The same car Liam drove when he picked us up last time.

We sat in and the ride was quiet. Liam took a deep breath like he wanted to say something.

- Go ahead.

I said making a suprised expression spred across his face.

- I- I should tell you something but it'll probably just make you more upset.

I let out a sigh, mentally preparing myself for what he was about to say.

- When we were coming to the castle we found a dead body.

The news shocked me. I hoped it wasn't anyone I cared for.

- Who's?

He sucked in another deep breath and quietly answered.

- It's not just your mom that passed away, but Nina aswell.

My eyes burned even more and tears continued to fall. I couldn't believe she would die. She was my bestfriend.

- How?

- It seems like she was shot a couple of times. Then her neck was cut. It cut the blood flow to her brain and her other wounds seemed to have hit multiple organs.

He shocked me by how he new all this if he only looked at her for a brief second. But I was more devistated that Nina had died such a terrible death. It was dreadful.

I put my head against the window and silently cried.

Now I could only hope that Dante was safe.
