Anyways happening soon ahhhh I want to make the first 'day of' chapter like the tenth or eleventh and this is the sixth and I need to build it up, so this is more a filler and shorter than other chapters sorry!
It was two days before.
Of course no one knew this at the time. Except, maybe the gunmen had already planned it out or maybe it was going to be spur of the moment, but that's beside the point.
Nothing had happened the day before, on Saturday. It was the weekend, so Ashton and Luke didn't speak, nor did they need to. They may have locked eyes occasionally when they happened to leave their homes at the same time but that was the extent of their communication. Eye contact.
Ashton living near Luke was really weird. There was this one street in their city that was by the water, and all the houses on it were large and beautiful and people would literally drive down this street just to gawk at the beauty of the scenery and homes. Luke, of course, lived on this street. His family could afford that and like three of the other neighboring houses. Strangely enough, Ashton lived on that street as well. His mother had gotten their house for cheap because it wasn't as large as the other homes and it was closer to the water, and that could cause flooding and did cause flooding so it was priced lower. It was like the universe made that one house affordable for the Irwins because they were forcing Luke and Ashton together or something. (The universe ships it.)
Both boys felt something weird towards the other and they really wanted that feeling to go away. They didn't like feeling that way and they didn't like how boring the school had been without their banter. Sure, it had only been like two or three days but it was so weird.
Over the course of the weekend Ashton spent most of his time slaving over his mom and siblings in an attempt to be loved or with Michael, and Luke spent most of his time partying or playing video games with Calum. They were doing very different things but both nights when they lay down their thoughts drifted back to each other.
So naturally, Luke decided something had to change. He needed to do something, say something that would switch things up a bit. But that could be taken care of tomorrow or maybe Tuesday. Right now, though, he was dominating Calum in a game of Call Of Duty: Ghost.
"Did you just-- you just shot me! We're playing team mode, Luke! I'm on your God damn team!" Calum screeched. He really sucked at video games and it really pissed him off so Luke loved to make him even more pissed because it amused him.
Friendship.
It was working. Calum was getting pissed the fuck off and he kind of wanted to tear Luke's head off and proceed to throw it out the window, but he didn't. He had a better idea.
"Hey, Luke?" Luke was a little afraid when he heard how calm Calum's voice sounded. It was like he simmered down (wink wink) in a matter of seconds and that never happened to anyone really, let alone Calum. Of all people.
"Y'know when we were talking about you and Ashton the other day?" Luke visibly tensed at Calum's words, gripping his controller a bit tighter and training his widened eyes on the television screen, keeping his concentration on the game. Calum bit his lip to muffle his laughter and muttered,
"I saw your boner."
And that was that. Luke dropped his controller and stared with even wider eyes at the carpeted floor. Calum burst out laughing, killed Luke's guy and ended up winning while Luke looked downright horrified.
When the game ended, Calum was cheering and laughing at the same time while Luke was desperately trying to hide his blush. "That-- Oh my GOD that was... amazing... I'm going to CRY!" Calum screamed, loving how flustered and embarrassed Luke was. I mean, of course Calum saw Luke's boner. He looked out the window to try and make Luke feel better and he guessed it worked, up until now. And it was so obvious that Ashton caused it. Just the thought of Ashton caused it. Luke was in deep.
