Chapter 24
~Ginny’s POV~
Today was the day. The day I had been waiting for, for many years. Today was the day I was going to marry Harry. Excitement engulfed me, as I walked to Hermione’s common room in the early morning. I stepped through the portrait hole, whispering the password. Hermione was pacing around inside, but stopped as soon as she saw me, to throw her arms around my neck. I grinned at her and she grinned back, as she pulled me into her bedroom, muttering about how excited she was.
We put on our make-up; Hermione had definitely gotten better at applying make-up, it was obvious that she had practising, because Hermione never liked to be bad at a skill, whatever that may be. Once Hermione had finished my make-up, she moved to my hair and swept it up elegantly and pinned it neatly at the back of my head, leaving but a few strands to frame my face. Without saying a word, Hermione glided to her wardrobe and pulled out my dress. As soon as I had it on, I moved towards the full length mirror, but Hermione stopped me.
“Close your eyes,” she said. I did, without question, which was unlike me. Hermione placed something on my head delicately, and grabbed my hand to lead me to the mirror,
“Okay, open.” And I opened my eyes to stare at my reflection. My white, strapless dress was embroidered with glimmering jewellery along the neckline which twinkled in the light every time I moved. The silky satin material clung to my body, emphasising my curves. Hermione had placed a long veil on my head, held together by a pearl tiara. I smiled at myself, I couldn’t believe it was really happening, I was in my wedding dress, on my wedding day, to marry Harry Potter. I looked at Hermione and grinned, she beamed at me.
“Ginny, you look dazzling!”
“Thank you,” I said. “Now let’s get you ready!”
I did her make-up and I made her look even prettier than she already was, which was difficult because Hermione was beautiful. I applied a potion to her hair to ensure her long, bouncy curls remained perfect throughout the day. She got into the Maid of Honour dress that I picked out especially for her; it was a deep purple colour that clung to her torso, but billowed out at the waist, floating down to just above her knees.
“You really do look wonderful.”
“Thanks Ginny,” she smiled at me.
We started to walk out of her bedroom, to the common room, to wait until it was time. Hermione slipped on her small heels and looked back at me. I pulled a garter up my leg and left it mid-thigh. I looked at Hermione, who was staring at me with wide eyes, I grinned and winked at her cheekily. She shook her head and rolled her eyes, as she walked into the common room, laughing.
Hermione moved a few steps into the common room and I stood, behind her, in the doorway of her room. Draco was sat on a chair, in the common room, facing away from us. As soon as the door opened, Draco stood up. His eyes instantly locked on Hermione, gasping as he took in her dress, his eyes wide with awe.
