Saturday afternoon:
I walked down the strip mall with a cup of Starbucks coffee in my grasps. My head still hurt, but not as much as it did earlier this morning.
I spotted a cute little bakery and decided to walk inside to get away from the rain that had come out of nowhere. The smell of baked goodies and pastries swirled around in my nostrils. It was warm and welcoming inside. I looked at the display of caked and pastries.
"Ryder?" I looked behind the counter and of course their was Harry... Except he was in an apron. Like one of those cute little baking aprons with the name of the bakery embroidered on the front, oh I could die from laughter.
"Harry?" I looked him up and down with a smirk on my face,"So you work here huh?"
He face flushed red,"uh... Yeah I do." We stood there in silence.
"I forgot to say um thanks or sorry for last night, I got um..."
"Pretty wasted? Yeah you did, do you remember anything at all?"
I laughed,"Not a thing, just dancing with you." He smiled looking at his shoes and then back to me.
"You're quite the ballroom dancer you know?"
"I know I know, I'm just that talented...wait what happened? Did I do something stupid." I put my face in my hands in embarrassment,"I probably did something stupid oh my God."
Harry shook his head,"No but you are quiet a laugh when your drunk."
"Oh my goshhh." I laughed. I put my elbows on the counter and rested my chin in my palms. Glimpses of me and Harry lying in the grass flashed in my mind, but I couldn't remember anything else after that or the content of our conversation at that very moment,"I also remember laying in the grass with you."
Harry's eyes went wide and he cleared his throat,"oh uh..."
"Is there anything I should remember?" I questioned innocently. he shook his head, I knew something was up. If I didn't confront him in my drunken state, then I was going to do it now,"ok Harry cut the crap, what happened?" I stood up straight. He brushed his hands on his apron.
"Ryder I don't want to discuss this right now. I'm working..."
I furrowed my eyebrows,"Harry you're avoiding me, I just want to know why ok? What did I do wrong." He slammed his hands down on the counter earning a jump out of me.
"It's not like that!" He rose his voice at me. I didn't feel like arguing, I barely felt like talking. I just want to know what happened.
"Then what is it like."
"Nothing Ryder just forget it."
"Fuck you Harry, you're right I don't understand." I spit, storming out of the store, introduced to the pouring rain, but I didn't care. I was just so angry and done with Harry and his stupid games. I heard me name being called, and turned to find Harry running over through the rain to me. I frowned turning back around, the rain felt like needles shooting into my spine.
I felt him grab my arm gently, I turned around quickly.
"Get away Harry, I don't care anymore. it doesn't matter I don't want to be some girl in your little parade of girls, you can't just treat me like shit and pretend like it never happened!" I yell over the rain that was covering us both.
"Just hear me out!"
I shake my head,"I'm sorry." I state, turning to walk away again but this time he grabs me swinging me around his forehead colliding with mine. We both groan in pain as I place my hand on my forehead.
"That could've gone so much better, hold on let's start over." Harry laughs holding his forehead just like I am.
I smile widely, my head still throbbing. I shook my head,"you can still fix it." He grabs my hands, pulling my close.
"Well I was gonna say, you're not like most girls and then you would say..."
I cut him off,"That is the most cliche thing you could ever..."
"And then I would've said shut up." His pink supple lips connecting with mine, and I let him.
And no matter what I could say or do, I couldn't deny the feelings that had crept up on me. Besides its always good to feel like you're in a Nicholas Sparks movie once in a blue moon.
