I decided to be nice and write a longer chapter xD
||Cole Wentz|| First Person||
I didn't tell Patrick.
Look, listen, before you yell at me and call me an idiot(which I am) for trying to hide this stuff from Patrick because it'll only make things worse, I was scared. I just don't want to drag Patrick back into the craziness when he already broke down once that day. So I figured the best thing to do is to keep it from him.
And it worked for a bit- until it didn't.
"You've got your wallet, phone, everything?" Patrick asks me carefully, and I roll my eyes at him with a light laugh.
"Yes, Mom." I tell him, making him crack a smile and lean forward, pressing a soft and slow kiss to my lips. The sudden action sends a pulse pounding through my veins, the blood pumping like crazy because of how much my heart is beating right now. I let my eyes slip closed as this burst of euphoria accompanies the passion, and I'm thinking that Patrick is an extremely good kisser.
"Mama," Maya laughs from the backseat, startling the both of us out of making out. We look back at the little girl, glancing at each other with a knowing look, before smiling widely. Patrick was going to take care of Maya today, and then we planned to go out for dinner after my meeting with Doctor Katherine. I still can't help but put the Dr before her first name, even though she insists I just call her Katherine.
"Well, I'm going to go now." I say, unlocking my seatbelt before twisting in my seat, blowing an over exaggerated kiss to Maya, who giggles and returns the endearment, before opening the door. I grab the strap of my Jansport and get out of the car carefully, pulling my jeans up before pulling the straps of my bag over my shoulders. I wave one last time to Patrick before turning and heading for the building, an actual smile on my face.
I check in at the front desk for my appointment, and the secretary tells me to go on ahead to Doctor Katherine's office. I say thank you before heading for the elevator, punching in the floor number as the doors shut. I catch sight of myself in the mirrors of the elevator, smoothing my dark hair down before tugging the hem of my Batman knitted sweater. The doors part for me, and I step out, turning left and scanning the doors for the one with Doctor Katherine's name plaque. I raise my fist and knock.
"Hey, Colby," she smiles at me as she opens the door. "Right on time, come in." I take a step forward, chewing on my bottom lip before I pass the threshold and make my way to the Lazy Boy sofa. I plop down on the couch and feel the chair sink slightly under my weight, swallowing me. Katherine closes the door softly, turning around and heading back to her desk. She was dressed in her normal white button up with skinny dress pants, heels on regardless of the breeze outside. She probably has boots stuffed underneath her desk. She sits down in her office chair before flipping open my file, picking a ballpoint pen out of the holster before clicking it and getting ready to write every word that pours out of my mouth. "Where should we start today?"
"Doesn't matter," I shrug, propping my Converse laced feet onto the coffee table. Katherine raises her eyebrows at me but doesn't comment verbally on my disrespect.
"How about last week? I'm aware that you and Mr. Stump went to Elsa Yao's funeral?" She begins for me.
"How'd you know?" I ask.
"It was a televised event, well, some of it was, because Miss Yao was murdered by an escaped convict." Katherine says. "They specifically broadcasted the speech Mrs. Yao had you and your fiancé give."
"So the world watched Mrs. Yao basically dehumanize us? Why am I not surprised that we're more to blame because of something that happened three years ago than her own fucking murderer?" I sigh, crossing my arms over my chest before blowing out a breath that sends my bangs floating up.
