A/N: I took the liberty of changing some of the words and things... It's not accurate to the scene but I still wanted to write it.

Carson's birthday party was a success just like any other birthday party that Hope Valley had had. Elizabeth Thornton and Abigail Stanton were talking to each other as they crossed the street when they both turned to see a Mountie on a horse coming towards them.

Elizabeth ran a few steps calling out her husband, Jack's name. Was he home? Just like in her dreams? Was it real? Was it possible? Once the Mountie's face showed, it wasn't Jack unfortunately.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else."

"That's all right. Do you know Elizabeth Thornton?"

"I am Elizabeth. Is Jack okay?"

"I'm sorry, ma'am." Her eyes started to water as fear crept inside her being. She was not hearing him right.

"Is he okay?" Abigail asked.

"Is he all right? Is he hurt?" The Mountie shook his head sadly.

"...I'm afraid its worse than that, ma'am..."

"No," Elizabeth whispered, feeling Abigail clutch her lower arm. "No! No!"

"NO! NO NO NO NO!" Tears began to stream down her face as she realized what the Mountie had just told her.

Jack was dead.

Her husband. Her everything. Her only love. Her...her Mountie hero. Mountie Jack was dead. Elizabeth's knees weakened, she fell to the ground, screaming, and sobbing.

Her heart broke as Abigail tried very hard to comfort her.

"NO! NO! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! "

The only thing that could be heard was the joyous birthday celebration in the saloon...and the crying of a wounded heart-broken teacher.

A/N: Well that was so hard to write. Requests are OPEN!
