'Is she still not coming to school today?' Jane asked.

'No,' Evie sighed.

'Haven't seen Ben either since the breakup,' Lonnie said.

'Fortunately not,' Jay said.

'I still just don't understand why this happened, why he did this,' Lonnie said.

Evie shrugged her shoulders. 'Some people are not who you thought they were.'

'Okay, but cheating on your fiancée and mother of your child is next level betrayal which was the last thing I thought would happen,' Jane said.

'I saw it coming,' Jay said. 'I've been saying for months that that guy's bad news. You guys just wouldn't believe it, even after all the messed up things he's done to her.'

'Well, in the end you were right, indeed,' Lonnie said.

'And what did you learn from this?' Jay asked.

'To not sleep with someone you don't know?' Jane guessed.

'To always listen to me and trust me when I'm getting a bad feeling about someone,' Jay told her.

'Jane's point was valid too though,' Evie said.

'I have a question by the way,' Lonnie said.

'What is it?' Carlos asked.

'Well, I was just wondering- what's gonna happen with Gianna?' Lonnie asked. 'Because, it's not really fair to keep her from her father, is it?'

'You should ask Mal that,' Jay said. 'She won't talk about Ben anymore and we don't want to bring it up either, it only gets her in a worse mood.'

'Understandable,' Jane said. 'But she can't avoid him forever.'

'Eventually she'll have to face him, yes, but right now she's still in the grieving phase,' Evie said. 'So, let's just let her be, okay.'

'I feel so bad for her,' Jane said. 'Everything was finally right, their relationship was going great, they were a happy family, and now it's all gone. The guy, her fiancé for god's sake, who she thought was the love of her life and the one who'd always be there for her for the rest of her life, just- betrayed her, like she was nothing to him. That's just so cruel.'

'It is, it sure is, but I think it's better that she found out now than later, when they would've been married,' Jay said.

'Definitely,' Lonnie agreed.

'M?' Evie said, looking around their dorm.

She just got back from her last class to find no Mal in their dormroom.

She went to the bathroom, but also no sign of Mal.

'What the hell,' Evie said to herself.

Mal hadn't left their dorm in days and suddenly she was gone.

Maybe she went over to the boys' dorm.

"It's open," Carlos said after Evie knocked on the door.

Evie entered the dorm to find Jay and Carlos playing some game on their tv.

'Have you seen Mal?' she asked them. 'She isn't in our dorm and hasn't said anything about going somewhere.'

'She left a note on your nightstand,' Jay said, not looking away from the tv.

'How do you know?' Evie asked.

'That's what she said in the note she left on our table,' Carlos said, also concentrating more on the game than on Evie.
