Exams were taking place and Remus was sitting in the front of the room scribbling down his answers. He had spent years focusing mainly on his efforts in school that he never truly experienced the joys of growing up. He spent a lot of time on his daughter as well but he would never regret that. He just wished he had let himself have a little more fun, and now it was all coming to a close, an ending he wasn't ready for.
He answered the questions and handed it in, heading to the next room to begin the next exam. He would be able to complete his exams by the end of the day and in a week graduation would pop up faster than he believed.
But with that came seeing Amelia and apart of him never wanted to see her again but another part needed the closure that his thirteen year old self never got when she left. She was his first love and that meant something to Remus.
He loved Thalia with all his heart but remembering Amelia made him realize his true feeling for the girl. He would always love Amelia, she was his first everything, first time, first kiss first love. But Thalia was different, she was his second love and she had been teaching him things Amelia never could.
He tried to forget about it, and finish his exams, focusing on them rather than his personal life but that was a lot harder than he expected.
And when it was over he left the classroom leaving everything behind, including the rest of his friends who were way behind him in writing their own exams. Remus ran to the hospital wing where Aliyah was — Poppy had agreed to watch her and he needed to talk to his daughter, because no matter what anyone told him that little girl was the best therapist he'd ever get, that little girl was all he needed to feel better.
Remus picked her up and sprinted with the five year old girl who giggled from the fast paced movements, he called back to Poppy thanking her for watching Aliyah but sprinted away faster once he turned forward. And Remus didn't stop until he was down by the lake on the dock — their spot.
"Aliyah?" Remus asked out of breath as he walked the path of the dock to the large landing area.
"Yes daddy?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Mhm," she nodded.
"Your mother, Amelia, I've meantimes her a few times, told you the stories. She's coming to London soon and wants to meet you. Is that something you would want to do?"
"I don't know?" Aliyah shrugged her shoulders looking at her father in a questioning gaze, "she is my mommy but Thalia . . . She's like my mommy too and I don't want to hurt anyones feelings."
"I know that, but it's up to you honey, and Thalias feelings won't be hurt, I know she'll be very understanding. But it's up to you if you want to see your mum or not."
"I don't know."
"Think about it honey. It's completely up to you if you want to or not."
"LUPINS," Sirius called from in the distance the rest of the friends running down and over to them before a full celebration commenced. They were done school and everyone was jumping around and falling into the moment.
Aliyah ran I got he mix of people, James lifting her up and spinning her in the air. Thalia walked over to Remus next to the lake wrapping her arms around his body from behind as they looked out over the water.
"The real world will be here soon."
"Is it bad if I say I'm scared?" Remus asked looking down at Thalia.
"No, I'm scared to but I feel safe being scared with you."
Remus chuckled turning around in her arms and pulling her body into his, "I love you Thals."
"I love you to Rem," he bent his head down connecting his lips with hers and falling in love with her all over again. But there was boy a few meters away who glanced at the couple, and a frown flashing over his face for a moment before he turned back around faking the smile.
And no one saw how the little girl saw the frown. No one knew that the little girl saw everything, things she may not completely understand yet but will someday. And it would be a god damn tragedy if she were to ever forget.
