Remus sat in his first class writing notes as the teacher talked. Aliyah was right beside him reading a huge book that seemed bigger then her but she was like her father in a lot of ways. Every now and then Remus would also hand her little bits of chocolate to keep her happy.

But of course as a four year old, reading can get boring even for an avid young reader. She closed the book and walked up to the front of the room. Remus didn't notice as he was too occupied with writing his notes.

Aliyah tugged at the older women's robs making the her stop her lecture and looking down at the young girl. "How come your turning animals into objects?" The little girl asked as she jumbled the words a bit.

"To let them learn."

"But daddy says people aren't objects and neither are animals, you can't do that. It's wrong."

Minerva McGonagall was extremely confused and at a loss for words. She looked over to Remus who just shrugged not knowing what to say either, he had in fact said that in one of his teaching moments.

"We turn them back into animals, it's just for a few moments."

"It's not right Anty Minnie, what did the poor rat ever do to you to make you turn it into a goblet." The girl threw her hands to the side showing her dedication. "Aren't I right Uncle Peter?"

Peter paled at the mention. The little girl knew of their anamigus forms and would run around with them often. But she didn't know it was a secret. Peter just nodded unable to form words.

"Well, they didn't do anything wrong, they simply wish to be goblets."

"Did you ask them?"

"Well, no, but—"

"Then how do you know?"

"I'm smart."

"But your not a Ravenclaw."

McGonagall looked down at the young girl crossing her arms and raising a brow. The little girl mimicked the older women's actions gaining chuckles from all around the room.

"An offspring from the marauders, why didn't I see this coming?" McGonagall asked the sky.

"You shouldn't talk to yourself, they'll send you to the loony bin."

"The what?"

"That's what nana tells papa when he mumbles under his breath."

Remus banged his head on the table unable to stop his laughter while James and Sirius were freely letting out their obnoxious laughs. Peter was still wondering if people were thinking about what the girl had said about him, the paranoia making him look all across the room. And Lily was rolling her eyes with an obvious smirk on her face, trying not to laugh.

"Go sit down Aliyah."

"Okay Anty Minnie," she raised her hands in the air in defence, "but you should really think about what I said."

"Yes, yes, I'll put it under consideration."

The day continued on and Aliyah continued to be the centre of attention. In care of magical creatures she got to hold all the animals with the professor. She got to keep a plant in herbology. And she helped make potions with Slughorn.

All the teachers loved the little girl and loved the addition she gave to the class. And Remus knew when she came back to Hogwarts on her own, all the professors would continue to love and protect the girl as they already saw her as part of the family. And the teachers had even started their bets on which house she would be in, each betting for their own.

But as the day dragged on and Aliyah skipped around. Remus still noticed the stares and rude remarks he received. He was used to them and shrugged them off but it still hurt to have people hating on you for having a child — even if he was young.

Remus wondered what it would have been like if he still had his girlfriend with him. But she left, she ran away and left Remus with a child giving him all the responsibility and the choices that came with it. He wondered if she would ever come back and if she did, would he even want her too?

The day was coming to an end and Aliyah had fallen asleep on Remus. Sleep soon took over him as well, sliding off his glasses and falling asleep.

He had made it through another day without anything bad happening. That was his one goal everyday, having Aliyah safe and sound in bed every night with a smile on her face. Day one: accomplished.
