time skip - two months later

"Have you decided on doing the surgery, Jungkook?" Jimin asked his patient while checking his heart beat.

"Hyung, you ask me that every day. I don't know," Jungkook responded exasperated.

"You're not getting any better, Jungkook. I can't just keep injecting you with medications when you're having your chest pains to make you feel better. In case you didn't know, each medication that isn't covered by your insurance costs your mom more money if that's what's still holding you back."

When Jimin didn't receive any response back, he exhaled and set the clipboard down. "Alright Jungkookie, I'll be back in two hours with your lunch-"

"Can I go see Taejin?" Jungkook asked.

"Didn't you see her this morning?" Jimin questioned, an eyebrow raised.

Jungkook nodded. "But I had to leave ten minutes later because she had to take her medicine and shower. Soooo can I? Please hyung?"

Jimin sighed and grabbed the phone beside the doorway, dialing three numbers. "Kim, it's Park. Jungkook wants to go see Taejin, is he allowed?.. Alright, thank you."

Jungkook looked at his nurse expectantly. Jimin only smiled softly, "Go on, but I'll go get you when it's your lunch time."

Jungkook smiled and got up from his bed, sliding his hospital slippers on and grabbing his pole before exiting his room. Jimin watched as the boy entered the elevator and only shook his head. "This lovesick kid."

"Mr. Jeon, welcome back," Jihye greeted the male as she finished writing down Taejin's hourly update on the logbook. "She fell asleep just a few minutes ago after her eleven o'clock dosage but I'm sure she wouldn't mind you accompanying her. She shouldn't be out for long."

Jungkook nodded. "How is she doing?"

"Well, she had a lot of discomfort last night, which is why she had that medication given to her this morning when you came."

"How big is her tumor exactly?"

"Just about the size of a grape, roughly," Jihye moved to the whiteboard and added a note about Taejin's discomfort for Dr. Jung to see.

"And she doesn't have any option for like a surgery?"

"Not yet, according to Dr. Jung."

"But she's not like dying dying, right?"

Jihye shook her head, glancing at the male. "Why are you asking these questions?"

"I had a dream that this tumor killed her a few nights ago, I guess it's just worried me."

"She must mean a lot to you then."

"She does."

Taejin began to groan slightly, slowly rubbing her eyes before she opened them. She jumped slightly, not expecting Jungkook to be next to her bed. "Jungkook?"

The boy looked down and smiled, brushing some of her hair out of her face. "Morning again, Taejinnie."

"How long have you been here?" Taejin asked sleepily.

"Not long, maybe five minutes? I've just been talking with Jihye."

"That's Miss Kim to you," Jihye fake scolded. "Only my patients get to call me Jihye."

"Sorry Miss Kim," Jungkook responded with a slight eye roll.

Jihye only shook her head and grabbed her clipboard then looked at Taejin. "I'll be back in two hours with your lunch. Page me if you need me." Taejin nodded in response and Jihye exited the room, Jungkook taking his seat in his chair beside Taejin.

Jungkook moved his gaze to the tired girl on the bed, taking in her new eye bags. "How you feeling, lovely?"

Taejin felt the corners of her mouth move upwards at the nickname as she stifled a yawn. "I'm fine, just trucking along."

Jungkook nodded, swallowing. "Taejin, how long have we been talking?"

"About two or three months?"

"Well, surprisingly, it took me two or three months to fall in love."

Taejin furrowed her eyebrows then smiled. "Aigoo! My Jungkookie is in love~! Who is the lucky girl? Or boy? I don't judge."

Jungkook leaned in and pressed his lips to her forehead before whispering, "You."

Taejin slowly widened her eyes, cheeks burning. "M-Me? You love.. me?" So this is what Jihye-unnie feels when she sees Mr. Park.

"I do, very much actually. I love you enough that," Jungkook exhaled before continuing. "I love you enough to get the surgery. To stay with you."

"Really? But you said you didn't have any reasons to?"

Jungkook grinned. "You gave me one."

Taejin smiled widely, eyes lit with joy and love. "I-I love you a lot too, Jungkookie."

The boy leaned closer to the girl's face, breaths hitching. "May I?" he asked softly and she nodded, letting the boy press his lips against hers.

Jimin was walking towards Taejin's room to grab Jungkook to eat his lunch and met Jihye halfway.

"Here to collect Jungkook, Park? I need to give Taejin her lunch." Jihye said.

Jimin nodded. "It's Jungkook's lunch hour as well."

"I'll let you know now, he's allowed to come after lunch. I'm almost positive he'll want to see her again."

Jimin chuckled softly as they approach the room. "Wonder what Taejin-ah has done to get his attention."

Jihye stopped in front of the door, peering through the small window with a grin and whispered, "I think I know."

Jimin stood behind her, also looking at the scene. "That's my boy."
