"Well Jungkook-ah, after several days of recovery, I think you are finally ready to be discharged," Dr. Min said with a proud smile. "You've come a long way, son. I'm proud of you."

Jungkook looked up with wide doe eyes, a soft smile slowly gracing his lips. "Really? I'm officially done here?"

"I'd like to see you back in three weeks for your post-op check up. Afterwards, you are officially done. Now, if you begin feeling sharp chest pains and whatnot, come back immediately."

Jungkook nodded before suddenly hugging the doctor tight. "Thank you for everything."

Yoongi exhaled and returned the hug, patting the boy's back. "Take care of yourself, Jeon. I'll miss having you around. Come see Jimin and I regularly, will you?"

"Of course, sir." Jungkook released the embrace as he heard Yoongi's pager go off.

"That's my cue to leave," Yoongi said and began to walk towards the door. "Before I go, is there anyone in particular that you'd like me to contact to come get you?"

Jungkook shook his head. "I'll be with Taejin up until she leaves, Doc."

Yoongi lifted an eyebrow, amused, but only nodded in response before exiting the room.

"I just want one sip of water, is that too much to ask?" Taejin whined weakly while gently tugging at Jungkook's shirt.

Jungkook sighed. "Unfortunately yes it is, baby. You can't have nothing in your system until after the surgery is over."

"He's right," Jihye added while writing down her vitals. "Dr. Jung and Dr. Min will let me know when I can take you down to the operating room. It should be in a few minutes."

"This is it, huh? You're finally going to be okay," Jungkook said with a smile.

Taejin mimicked the grin, nodding as fast as she could. "Just like you."

Jungkook leaned down to press a kiss on her head. "Just like me."

Hoseok knocked lightly on the ajar door when he arrived a few moments later, Jimin behind him with the bed they'd take Taejin in. "We're ready."

"Her vitals are good. Go head and bring the bed in, Park," Jihye said as she put the clipboard down on a nearby table. "This will be one of my last times having to check your vitals hourly. After this surgery, it'll just be every few hours."

"You sure you can't be with me in the operating room?" Taejin asked quietly.

"Sorry baby girl, but that's not my area yet. I'll see you in a few hours, though. And you'll be all healthy," Jihye patted her head then looked at Jungkook, "You can move her onto the bed and say your goodbyes."

Jungkook nodded before scooping the girl up bridal style then gently setting her on the operating bed. Taejin bit her lip and reached a hand out to touch Jungkook's face, hand shaking slightly as the male leaned into her touch.

"Everything's going to be okay, my love," Jungkook whispered. "I'll be right here waiting for you."

Taejin felt her eyes gloss over. "Kookie... if I die-"

"No-"

"Let me finish," the girl interrupted, voice rough. "If I d-die, promise me you'll keep going? F-Finish school, and- and find a new girlfriend to then m-marry, and never change. But d-don't forget about m-me either.."

"How could I ever forget you, Taejin?" Jungkook's throat tightened but he shook his head and smiled softly. "Dr. Min won't let you die. If he saved me, he can save you too."

"Just promise me."

Jungkook exhaled. "I promise."

Taejin nodded before moving her hand to the back of Jungkook's neck and gently pulling him towards her, sealing the promise with a kiss.
