It's crazy how things can change out of nowhere. Like life is giving you a chance to be yourself, but you can't quite grasp it yet.
It's so crazy how summer is over and I've had to start school. I'm walking around campus trying to find the McIntyre building to get my psych 200 class. I sigh as I see that I, once again, have ended up at the wrong building. I sigh; this is going to be a long day.
I groan in frustration, I have 10 minutes till class starts and I don't know where the hell I'm going! I sit at one of the benches and study the map one more time.

I enter the classroom about twenty minutes into it; all eyes are on me as I step inside.
"And you are?" Asks the professor behind the podium.
"Laila Matthews," I answer.
"Ah miss Matthews, care to explain why you're so late to class?"
I had a few choice of words to exchange with my psych professor, but I held them back. "I couldn't find the building" I shrug.
"A sophomore who can't find the building?" He asks and I hear a couple of chuckles from the class.
"I'm a freshman."
"If you're a freshman, then why are you taking 2nd year classes? My class is not at the freshman level miss Matthews," he quirks an eyebrow.
I turn 3 shades of red; I hate being the center of attention and up until now that's all I've been. "I skipped the first two prerequisite classes."
"You skipped both classes?" I nod my head. "Very well, take a seat."
I rush and sit down in the first empty seat I find without really looking around. That was not the way I wanted to start class. Just as the professor starts talking the door opens, once again interrupting his class.
"Ah, mister Green; nice of you to join us. Care to explain why you're still the last one to get to class?"
"Come on Mr. I'm one of the top students, does it matter if I'm late or not?"
I recognized that voice instantly, oh no... Please let me be wrong about the owner of the voice. I want to look up but I don't want to confirm my suspicions.
"Take a seat Mr. Green, and refrain from further disruption in my class."
"Yes sir"
I hear footsteps; I shut my eyes tighter not wanting to see the owner.
"So the pixie's into school too?" He whispers. I groan and put my head down on the table. What's he even doing here? Like I said, this is going to be a long day...

So I know I said that Jasper annoyed the crap out of me, and that I felt like punching him most of the time, but he's proven to be pretty useful today. If it weren’t for his constant nagging to show me around, I wouldn't know where everything was.
We're currently eating lunch together, against my will may I add, but hey, he did show me around and I figured why not. Were sitting in the cafe and he's looking through my schedule.
"Damn pixie, safe to say your kind of smart huh." He shoots me a grin. I shrug and keep eating my fries. "You've skipped all the prerequisite classes, what did you do in high school? Take college classes?"
I raise my eyebrow at him, "does it matter?"
He shakes his head, "guess not. So how are you liking our school so far?" I narrow my eyes at him, "what? I'm being serious?"
I shake my head; this boy is going to be the end of me. Frustration, that's all I feel when he's around.
"Can we just not do this? I appreciate you helping out and showing me where everything is in this damn place, but we don't have to play friends."
"I'm not trying to play friends Laila. Listen, I know we started off on the wrong foot, but I really think we should, you know, be cool with each other."
I raise my eyebrow at him. This is not what I was expecting but I did say I was going to try and be friends with him. Or at least tolerate him.
"Let's face it, we see a lot of each other. I'm in Hunter's band, and you, well you're the little sister." I raise my eyebrow at him; I hate being called the little sister. Even though that’s really what I am, I want to be known as Laila, not Hunter’s little sister. “Okay, that came out wrong. But you know what I meant; we’re always going to be seeing each other. Might as well make the best of it right?”
I shake my head, “not if Hunter gets rid of you first.” He looks like a deer caught in headlights and I can’t help but burst out laughing. “I’m only kidding. I’m sure you’re still kind of useful to him and the band.”
He places his hand over his heart, “you wound me pixie.” I shrug still laughing. “Well, seeing as your last class is over at 5:30 today and I end at 4, I guess I could wait for you and take you home.” I shake my head at his comment, “before you start telling me off, I know you can get yourself home just fine. And I also know you hate asking for favors, but I’m offering and it’s hot as hell today so just nod and smile and agree to catch a ride with me today.”
I wasn’t going to argue with the fact that today was extremely hot. And I would have to wait at the bus stop for a while to catch it. And it’s not like Nick could come get me today, since he works till late. I nodded my head, “okay.”
“Great. Text me when you’re out of class and I’ll meet you outside your building.”
“I don’t have your number.”
“Really? I was kind of stalking you through your phone. I can’t believe you didn’t save it, I’m a little hurt.” I shrug. Nick was the one who deleted all the calls and messages. And I didn’t see the need to save the number. “I’ll just text you my number again, unlike you, I save the numbers that belong to my friends.”
We’re not friends. That’s exactly what I wanted to say, but decided against it. He had been kind of nice to me today and plus, it’s hot as hell and I really want that ride home. Even though I’d never tell him that.
