meanwhile, not too far away, a boy was having similar problems.
takahashi decided to leave practice early. he told the coach that he was feeling unwell but the actual truth was that he was too mentally drained to focus on practice. and without you, it was tough to get his fingers taped. he struggled a lot with that.
he checked his phone, disappointed when he found out that the only messages he got were chain messages and ones from hana which he didn't bother replying. he audibly sighed as he wondered why you haven't texted him back.
on his way home, he saw a very familiar figure. a figure he didn't appreciate seeing the past few years.

takahashi's blood started to boil when he remembered that this was the boy who was drunk with his girlfriend last night.
his wrath have appeared to catch haru's attention, causing the two of them to make eye contact.
takahashi's stormed towards haru. his mind was definitely not in the right place and it physically showed.
he gripped hard onto haru's collar.
even though haru grew since middle school, takahashi was still the taller of the two.
" what the hell is your problem huh? does taking someone's girl make you feel more like a man? does that shit make you feel happy? tell me what is it, " takahashi growled.
haru just laughs. he could feel his feet being lifted slightly off the ground. the strength is as expected of a volleyball player.
" ' your girl ' was the one that came looking for me, " haru snickered as takahashi tightened his grip, " and you're right. it does make me happy. "
it took everything in takahashi to not curl his free hand to land a punch on his face. the adrenaline from playing volleyball earlier was still pumping through his veins. he knew that if he didn't hold back, haru could end up with a broken nose.
" you're trash you know that? " takahashi insulted.
" if i'm trash then what the hell are you? " haru fought back, " maybe you should consider why she even came to seek company from trash like me in the first place. "
takahashi's gripped softened as he remembered the ridiculous rumours about him and hana at the nurses' office. later that day, hana even confessed to him. he wouldn't be surprised if someone saw them in the garden and decided to spread it around for the whole school to hear about.
" feeling guilty now? " haru spat, every word laced with venom.
there was no response from takahashi. he just felt a wave of accountability sweeping over him.
" i never cheated. "
" yeah, i figured... but then again, that's what all cheaters would say... and then again, i'm not the one you should be justifying to, " haru calmly said as he loosened takahashi's grip around his collar and straightened his uniform, " and for the record, if you're not going to treat her right, i won't hesitate to. "
