chapter 1

TW: GORE AND BLOOD

"(Y/N)! HELP US PLEASE!!" they screamed my name over and over but all i could do was sit there in horror watching my beloved parents burn before me. their blood curdling screams echoing through my head. all i could do was watch. i run home and pack a bag with all i could fit in it. clothes, a few spell books, that were formally my parents, the only money i could find, and food. i put on my (f/c) haori with stars and moons scattered all over it and ran out of my house into the nearby woods. i could still smell the smoke from the fire and hear the bits of laughter from the people around my, once loving, parents burnt corpses. the slight smell of blood and smoke staining the air around me as well as my clothes. the screams and laughter repeating in my head over and over again like a broke record along with my mothers last words to me "(y/n)... no matter what happens, i will always love you so so much and i will forever be proud of you." of course i was confused about what she meant at the time, but now i understand. suddenly it all goes dark.

"AHHH" i scream jolting out of bed and gasping for air. i touch my cheeks and feel they are wet and stained with tears. "its okay, (y/n). its just another bad dream." i say to myself. i then hear the thumping of someone running towards my room.

wiping the tears that continue to come out of my eyes, i hear the door sliding open and in the door way is a girl around 5'7 with pink and green hair tied into three braids, big green eyes, dressed in a demon slayer outfit with a white haori, and knee high green stripped socks. seconds later she is accompanied by a shorter male with heterochromatic eyes, a mask covering his face with a white and black striped haori on along with a demon slayer uniform and a snake, known as kaburamaru, around his neck.

the girl, known as mitsuri, rushes in to comfort me and make sure i'm okay. i tell her it was just another bad dream, yet i continue to cry on her shoulder as she hugs me tight and rubs my back. she reassures me many times that i'm alright and nothing bad is going to happen as i start to calm down. the male that accompanied her, known as obanai, comes in and sets a hand on my shoulder, signifying he's there with me and that i'm going to be alright. "take a deep breath, (y/n). you're okay. we are here with you. nothing can hurt you." mitsuri says to me as she wipes my tear stained cheeks and places a small kiss on my forehead. i take a few deep breath's with mitsuri and calm down regulating my breathing and going back to total concentration, constant. "here. you can keep kaburamaru with you for a bit until you feel better." obanai says patting my head, smiling under his mask as kaburamaru slithers down his arm around my neck and starts to lick my cheek. i smile and thank them as they leave to go back to what they were doing.
