chapter 9

kanao's pov~

i wake up to the sound of birds and soft snores behind me. i'm confused as to who is behind me but as i look back to find it's y/n, my body immediately relaxes.

their hands are wrapped tightly around my waste and their face nuzzled in the crook of my neck. i smile at their sleeping face and decide that a bit more sleep wouldn't hurt.

y/n's pov~

i wake up and find that kanao still sleeping. i smile at her calm face. it seems foreign not seeing her usual small smile plastered on.

i place a gentle kiss on her jawline as i try and move away slowly. as i do so, kanao starts stirring in her sleep and eventually wakes up.

"good morning, flower" i say softly with a gentle smile. "good morning" she says with her eyes still closed, smiling.

i help her up and start getting ready as she wakes up more. once i get ready, i head to the kitchen to make us some tea and toast for breakfast.

one i get to the kitchen, i greet aoi and the three girls naho, sumi, and kiyo. i get two cups of water ready to boil as i toast the bread to put jam on. once the water starts to boil, i take it away from the fire and put the tea bags in.

as soon as i do that, i see kanao walk into the kitchen with a small smile. i smile at her as she sits down at the nearby table. i give her her toast and wait for the tea to steep.

the tea is ready and the girls are out helping the patients. "how did you sleep?" i ask kanao as i hand her a cup of tea. "it was good. i had a dream about you" she said lightly. i could barely hear it, but i picked it up. a bit of blush dusts my cheeks. "oh? is that so?" i ask. kanao looks up at me and immediately back down at her tea. "....yeah.." she said in a hushed voice. i lean in closer to her. "what was it about?" i ask her. her face turns a bright shade of red as she tries to cover her face. "o-oh.. uh... it was about us.... in the future..." she says in a flustered voice. "oh yeah? what else?" i say in a kind of flirty voice as i focus on her lips. "uhm... we were... dating.... i think..." she says refusing to look at me. i lift her chin up slightly, forcing her to look at me. "oh really?" i say with a smirk, her face red as a tomato if not more red.

i giggle softly as i kiss her cheek and turn back to my food. kanao is left dumbfounded and slowly turns back to her food. i giggle quietly at the sight. "she's so cute when she's flustered." i think to myself.

kanao's pov~

"holy shit... what the fuck just happened...?" i think. but seriously... what just happened..? "what is this feeling? i can't help but feel... happy...? i think that's what it's called... shinobu explained it to me a while ago... i should ask her about this."

i turn back to y/n as she sips her tea. once she puts it down, something comes over me and i tackle her to the ground in a hug. i can feel her tense up a bit but relax almost immediately after. she hugs me back and rubs my back. i feel content in this moment. like i never want it to end. "do you want to go to your room and cuddle instead of being on the hard floor?" y/n suggests with a small chuckle.

i nod into her chest, heat rising in my cheeks once again.

i dont get up so y/n carries me to my room the same way they did the night before. once we get to the room, she lies us down, me on top of her, as she rubs my back and plays with my hair. it felt as if i were in heaven. i never wanted this moment to end. not in a million years. but, of course, all good things have to come to an end.

a few hours later of cuddling and listening to the radio, aoi knocks on the door letting us know she's coming in.

me and y/n look at her, curious as to what she needs. "hey, i need you two to come and help with the rehabilitation training for the boys." she says. i go back to snuggling into y/n's chest and hold onto them tighter. "yeah, we'll be there in a few minutes." they say with a smile. aoi nods as she closes the door and leaves to the training area.

"come on, kanao, we need to get up" y/n says in a sweet loving voice. "i dont wanna let go tho." "okay." i reply. i give them one last squeeze as i sit up. y/n sits up as well and pulls me into to another hug as they shower my neck with light kisses. i giggle at the contact and kiss her on the cheek.

we get up and head over to the training center to help train the boys. "let's just hope this goes well." i think to myself as i enter the room.
