"Gwen."

I woke up to Petra softly shaking my dead tired body. Sleeping gave time for every bruise and tired muscle to take full effect.

"Please," I begged her hoarsely. "Leave me here to die."

"Come on, lazy. We're going to breakfast."

I slowly sat up and lifted my shirt to check my ribs that were covered in black and purple bruises. Petra covered her mouth with her hands and gasped.

"Oh my gosh, what happened to you?" I dropped my shirt and moved my legs over the side of the bed.

"I took some nasty falls yesterday. Fuck, I'm exhausted," I groaned, trying to stand up.

"You need to go to the infirmary," she said, grabbed my arm to help me up.

"Thank you. But no, I'm good. Erwin checked me to make sure they weren't broken."

She shot me a suggestive smirk. "Commander Erwin checked you, huh?"

"Yep, felt me all up," I joked. Petra was smart enough to know that the rumors about Erwin and I were probably true but wasn't going to ask, and I wasn't going to tell.

Petra was already dressed for the day in a long brown skirt and off white button down, tucked in. She looked like she had spent some time trying to get her hair to fall in the right way as well.

"You look nice, what are you up to today?"

She blushed and looked away sheepishly. "Oh, not much just wanted to be in something other than pants for once."

I didn't believe it for a second. This was for Levi but I wasn't going to call her out on it.

Petra turned around to give me privacy as I started stripping off my sleep clothes. It looked like another warm, sunny day so my best options were some tan shorts, a dark green short-sleeved shirt tucked in, and my uniform boots.

"Okay I'm good."

Petra and I were the last to leave for breakfast it seemed. The house was quiet and seemingly empty.

I could smell my own breath so I popped into the bathroom to brush my teeth and tame my messy hair before we walked to the mess hall. When we arrived, the 4 other member of our squad were sitting at table laughing together as they ate their breakfast. Levi's eyes snapped up to meet mine as we walked in and my breath caught in my throat. All I could think about now was the images I fell asleep too. It didn't help that one of the dreams I had the night before involved him and I doing some very strange combat moves.

"Mm, toast and eggs," I said, looking anywhere but Levi's eyes as I tried to move onto another thought. Petra and I got our plates and then sat down with the guys.

"Are you going to perpetually be late?"

The annoyance in Levi's voice was very apparent and very directed at me. I still couldn't bring myself to look back up at him, so I kept my eyes down as I moved the eggs around on my plate.

"Sorry, sir."

"You didn't answer my question."

I took in a deep breath and before I could say anything back, Hange came to save the day. She dropped her plate next to mine and grinned.

"Good morning, everyone! I hope you don't mind if I sit with you."

"Four-eyes..." Levi mumbled. Hange just looked up at him and smiled bigger, ignoring his callousness. She was good at remembering not to take Levi too seriously.
