Mountain Trails with Love

The Wrong road ahead

Max, Summer, Plu and Mallory all began to walk out of the entrance of the big, crowded, nosy airport in the middle of the scenic, windy state of Tennessee. As Mallory was leading the way to the cabin, they realized it would be a two and a half hour walk on foot, if they walked fast enough. They where determined to get home, and if anyone got tired Max said he was willing to carry them. Summer was the most tired out of the group, but Plu kept her awake by reading manga to her. It slightly annoyed her, but she didn't tell Plu because it made him very happy.
As they where 17 minutes and 39 seconds in, a lady pulled up speedily next to them. The lady that pulled up next to him was older with ratty blonde hair and heavy but bad makeup on. The lady drove a old beaten up truck and had a small
chihuahua in the seat next to her.
The lady exclaimed loudly and annoyingly "what are four kids, with loads of luggage doing walking the streets? And why is that dear skinny kid wearing a lay and sun hat in the middle of Tennessee?" Everyone looked at Plu and then looked back and the lady" Plu then shrugged his shoulders from confusion but then moved on.
Mallory, with a firm tone to protect her friends stood up to the lady with a firm, deep voice and said "we are perfectly fine walking on our own but thanks for the concern" . After that Plu, then briefly said to the lady "give us one moment madam" and pulled everyone aside in a huddle.
"Guys I think we should ask her for a ride"
"Plu are you crazy! Wait..why do I even ask at this point" Yelled mallory as she shook her head.
Summer replied "guys, I think we should, I know it's risky but I'm tired".
Max was thinking and in his head, he wanted the group back before dark, and he didn't want to make Summer, his secret crush and love of his life, walk for over two more hours. Max after thinking for a long time, quickly jumped out of the huddle and ran to the lady.
"Can we have a ride?" He said to her in a pleading tone. The lady tapped her dashboard, with her long dirty nails while lost in thought. After a couple seconds the lady gestured for us all to hop in. She refused to make her crusty dog move from "his chair", so she made them all sit in the back of a three seater. Summer quickly fell asleep in the car and plu zoned out after he put in earbuds and listened to 80s rock music.
Mallory and Max where both looking at each other in worry, this lady driving them got more odd and sketchy as the minutes went by. They where watching her closely, and kept noticing more strange things.
Her cup holder was holding a container, filled with brown and green powder that she would give to her dog. Her car had this big hole where the radio used to be, and last but not least she had gotten many calls from people asking "when she will help them, because she promised to take care of it for them" and she hung up on every one of the strange callers.
Mallory and max unexpectedly drifted off to sleep. Time went on and the whole group woke up by the noise of the lady shouting at a man across from her at the gas pump. The man was talking about taking us as we where sleeping and bringing us "to the shack" we all pretended to sleep while being scared out of our mind. After the shouting stopped suddenly, the woman then marched in the gas station with her poor dog in her arm. Mallory looked over and saw the and realized this was their chance. Mallory quickly busted open the door and jumped out. She grabbed the key and turned it and slammed on the gas. Plu screamed "MALLORY WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Mallory replied "shut up I'm saving our lives dummy" we all where trembling and grabbing onto each other. It didn't help their fear in the moment when they recalled that Mallory didn't know how to drive.
The group then realized while looking at the directions, that the lady was taking them in the completely opposite direction they asked her to take them. Thank God they woke up at the gas station, or they would be dead.
After 40 minutes of Mallory driving, it got dark. The gas was getting low on the truck, and the last gas station was 17 miles back.
Summer started heavy crying in Max's arms. Plu tried cheering her up by telling Summer the time he got a frog stuck in his hair on accident, but it wasn't working. Mallory was about to tell summer "it's okay we are only a couple miles away" but before the words could get out the car started to stop. Mallory yelled "COME ON YOU BALL OF CAT HAIR WORK!" The car ran out of gas. The group walked four miles in the dark. They all where about to cry out of fear until, they saw the light of the cabin. They where finally there! They kept walking with the little bit of hope left inside them. As they approached it they heard a noise.
"Um guys, I think I see a bear." Said Plu as he tapped aggressively on Mallory's shoulder.
"Yeah right" said Mallory while rolling her eyes.
As the group kept walking the noise got louder, and they realized Plu wasn't kidding. their was a big, black bear eating in the trash of their cabin. They all screamed "RUN!" Summer stood in fear as Max grabbed her by the feet and ran as fast as he could with her, she is not good at running, or protecting herself in general.
As soon as the group made it inside, they locked every door possible and caught their breath. Everyone grabbed each other, and group hugged for about five minutes after that one. Eventually they left the embrace and turned on the lights. They grabbed the blankets, and put in their pjs to make their way to the new couch that had their names on it. They searched and argued over what to watch on tv for about 20 minutes. They decided to put on a light comedy about a boy with a stick. The group couldn't sleep at all after that, so all night they spent on the cozy, warm couch talkings  they brought, and started eating snacks they brought at the airport earlier that day, till passed out cold asleep by morning.
