They were strangers to each other. Avoiding each other was a form of art that they were both able to paint. Glances to each other were invisible and chats to others were inaudible. It's just what they wanted. What she wanted.
He couldn't bear being away from her. Her taste felt missing from his mouth. The sweet strawberries. The soft lips of hers. The way she placed her hands. She wanted more of him, he could feel it. The way her lips wanted his in a way she can't even comprehend.
The ball was only a few days away. April twenty-fourth was springing up on her and she still didn't have a gown to wear. Ginny and Hermione tried getting her to go dress shopping with them.
They barged into her room while she was quietly reading a book. The book she got from the library. The book nearly flew out of her hand when she heard the commotion of the two girls. Harry stood awkwardly in the back.

"Please, Scarlett! It would be so much fun!" Pleaded Ginny, her voice high. Harry was begging for Scarlett to answer silently.
"Oh! Come on, Scarlett. You would look gorgeous in any dress you buy!" Hermione tried her best to convince her.
"No thank you. I don't even want to go to some foolish ball anyways. Such a cliche."
The two girls frowned and Harry sighed in a 'thank Merlin' sigh. Scarlett made a gesture for them to run along and they slowly walked out. As slow as they possibly could go. "Fine. I'll go but I will not be buying any dresses of any kind." They both turned around and smiled.
They dragged her out of her dorm and took her into a dress shop in London. There were racks on racks of ball gowns. Every one of them winked at her in the light. Scarletts cheeks warmed.
She shook off the feeling lightly and went on with Ginny and Hermione. Harry sat in a chair staring at his hands waiting for the girls to come out in their chosen dresses.
Hermione got another blue dress like the one last year. It was flowier and wider. There were little white pieces at the bottom that shined in sunlight and some of her back showed. She was in love with it.
Scarlett nearly gasped when she saw it.
Ginny soon appeared in a burgundy red dress. It was flowy like Hermione's but not as wide. The neckline was long and half of her back was showing. The dress was a sort of satin fabric.
Harry stood up when he saw her appear from the dressing room.
They both decided on the dresses and checked out. On their way out of the store, a dress caught Scarlett's eyes.
It was a satin dark navy blue dress with black sequence patterns at the bottom. It was satin-like Ginny's but was wider than Hermione's. The straps were thin and the front covered just the right amount for her comfort. Her heart nearly fluttered looking at it.
She tried to take the dress off her mind and went back up to her dorm for the rest of the night. Scarlett was now starting to debate about going to this ball.
But then just as she was about to drift into a sleep she heard claw marks on her window. An owl was there to deliver her a package. She looked at it with wide eyes and said a "Thank you" to the owl before letting it go back to the owner.
When she untied the knot that kept it sealed, it opened to the dress and a little note.
Scarlett Amara,
Go to the ball. I saw you staring at it and I saw the way your eyes lit up so Ginny and I put some money together and bought it.
Please go.
