By Friday morning, I was already feeling better than the previous day. The day passes by in a blur, with people looking at me proudly for making Emily speechless for the first time. Shea and Isaac never
got tired of telling how amazing I was or about her dumbfounded face when she couldn't respond to my catchy dialogue.
Now it was Saturday, the day of the party which Nicholas had mentioned. Nicholas is known for being to every single party held. He never missed out on a party. It's just like Isaac never missing anything related to food. Nicholas is known as a 'party freak.' I am not a nerd or anything, and I get decent grades and all, but parties? They aren't my cup of tea. I have been to one or two parties but couldn't stand them, so I left attending them. But since Nick invited us personally to his party, I should go, not like Shea left any choice to me. Damn, that girl can be very bossy when she needs it.
Shea was going to come to my house to help me get ready. No, I do have good clothes, but I wear them only when I need to wear them. I don't wear them everywhere. I like being in my comfort zone with casual oversized shirts, jeans, and sneakers. Oh, how I wish I could wear this to the party, but unfortunately, if I end up wearing that, Shea will skin me alive, and honestly, I do not want to be skinned alive. Her glare itself is enough for me to bury myself before she does.
I shiver at that thought.
Oceane, stop exaggerating.
Suddenly I hear something fall downstairs, and I get alert. I grab the nearest thing I find and slowly walk down the stairs. The lights are off, and I regret being so lazy to go turn on the damn lights. Damn Oceane. I walk as quietly as a mouse. I search for the switchboard, switch on the lights, and get ready to hit the thief. But when I look at the face of the thief, I realize that it's not a thief but Shea.
Shea looks at me weirdly.
"Jesus Shea, what's wrong with you?"
"What's wrong with you, Oceane? Why in the world are you holding a bunny toy in your hand?!"
Okay, so the nearest thing I found was a bunny toy? Why didn't I realize it? I clear my throat and answer, "Well, you see-"
"I can see everything very clearly" Shea raises an eyebrow.
"The thing is-"
"Yes, I know it's a bunny toy. I am not so dumb, Oceane." Shea answers.
"Right, so what I mean is-"
"I understand English very clearly, FYI, my dear best friend."
At this point, I honestly don't know if she was mocking me or genuinely confused.
"Shea, I was saying-"
"Yes, Oceane, I can hear you, saying," she replies calmly.
"GOD DAMN IT, SHEA. WILL YOU LISTEN TO ME?" I shout. She immediately shuts up.
