Hawks pov

I usually never bothered to take on student interns. But something in my gut told me to give it a chance this year.

I can't say I wasn't impressed by Kazu's little brother. But my attention was directed towards the student with the shadow he was attached to. When I saw him, something told me that he's someone I ought to pay attention to.

When the cavalry battle began, I was impressed by his guts. He decided to join the targetted team with the ten million points headband. That took a lot of bravery.

As the battle commenced my focus was completely on him. I immediately realised he had immense potential and his quirk was really powerful.

He used his dark shadow to defend and repel his team from attacks. It also protected them from the lighting blast that shocked the other teams.

However, what I found most amazing was how he had commanded it to secretly grab the headband containing enough points to ensure their advancement to the second round.

"Well," I thought, "I guess now I know whose got my attention."

Kazuya pov

I couldn't believe what I had just seen.

Shoto used his left side.

Whether it was out of desparation, panic or reflex, bottom line, he used his fire. Even while watching on the t.v screen I could clearly see the shock on his face.

Before the battle started, I noticed him glaring at someone in the audience. I immediately knew who that someone was.

But once he realised that he had used his left side, I could see the anger and shame on his face.

I didn't like seeing him like this. Ever since the scar incident Shoto had been resenting his left side. He claimed that using it was no less than accepting the power of the man who had abused our mother.

I didn't want him to feel shame in using his fire power. I wanted him to use his power without bottling anything inside.

It was all that man's fault.

He had broken our family, instilling pain, fear, guilt, anger and shame in all of us. All to feed his selfish ambition.

He had instilled fear in our mother, guilt in nee-chan, anger in Natsuo, and shame and resentment in Shoto.

What I wanted was for Shoto to see that he didn't have to walk on the path Endeavour had carved out for him. Like I ended up doing.( P.s we'll get to that in later chapters.)

Little did I know that by the end of the sports festival, that very though would be running through his mind as well.
