No one's pov

Kazuya watched the one on one battles commence.

She wasn't paying that much attention to the first battle. Her mind was running with the fear that her brother's match was next.

She was absolutely certain that Endeavour would have confronted Shoto sometime after the cavalry battle. And their conversations always ended with either one or both of them walking off angrily. As far as she knew, Endeavour always gave the worst pep talks.

She watched the first match end with Midoriya's victory, and the small conversation that took place between him and that kid from general studies.

Hawks noticed the worry on her face.

"What's wrong Todoroki?" He asked jokingly. "Don't tell me you're worried your bro's gonna lose the next match."

"Ha ha very funny!" She snapped sarcastically. "It's not that I'm worried he's gonna lose."

When the opponents of the second match made their way to the arena, there was a pure look of anger on Shoto's face.

"READY!!! BEGIIIIIN!!!" present Mic announced.

The match was over in three seconds flat. Shoto unleashed a gigantic ice wall that covered half of the stadium, with his poor opponent Hanta Sero stuck right at the front.

Even Hawks was shocked.

"Woah! Was your little bro holding a grudge against that tape guy or something?"

"Trust me," Kazuya said glaring at the screen "He wasn't the one he was angry at."

She could feel anger boiling up inside her.

What had that man said to aggravate Shoto this time? Of all the moments, he chose to piss him off right before his match.

She watched in silence as Shoto freed Sero from his ice prison.

The rest of the matches went by quickly. Hawks took interest on Tokoyami's match against Yaoyarozu. He was impressed that he managed to win the match quickly while Kazuya felt a sense of pity for the girl.

As the preliminary round ended, Kazuya realised that her brother's match was up first. Against Midoriya, the kid who possessed a quirk similar to that of the no.1 hero.

Kazuya pov

My brother's match was starting. As I predicted, he started it off with an ice attack.

For the first few minutes, it seemed like he had the upper hand. Midoriya seemed to be breaking every single one of his fingers to defend himself from the ice.

Right when it seemed like he was out of fingers to use. I thought his defeat was certain right then and there.

But I was in for a shock when he continued to evade the attack using his broken fingers.

But when I got a glimpse of Shoto, I realised he was shivering. His ice quirk was taking a toll on his body. And from the looks of it, his opponent seemed to notice it.

The conversation that took place between Midoriya and Shoto wasn't audible. I wished I could hear what Midoriya was saying. Something he said seemed to anger my brother as he launched slower ice attacks. This kept going on until...

"IT'S YOURS! YOUR QUIRK NOT HIS!"

That one line from Midoriya was loud and clear. I felt myself freeze in place.

That boy. That boy hadn't even been a part of the family drama. And yet, he seemed to know the exact words that would snap Shoto out of it.

I felt tears of joy emerge from the corners of my eyes as I saw his flames burst out of the left side of his body.

Finally, I thought. Finally you get it Shoto.

My joy however, turned into irritation as I heard Endeavour shout excitedly from the stands.

"YES SHOTO! HAVE YOU FINALLY ACCEPTED YOUR PURPOSE? THAT'S IT! VERY GOOD! THIS IS THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA FOR US! WITH MY BLOOD IN YOUR VEINS YOU'LL SURPASS ME! YOU WILL LIVE UP TO THE REASON I CREATED YOU!"

"Shut up old man!" I snapped quietly.
"This isn't about you."

I watched on in amazement as my brother created an explosion that blasted the entire stadium. In the end, he was left standing as the victory.

However, as Midoriya was being carried away, I mumbled under my breath,

"Thanks kid."
