Overtime, Zuko had gotten a little overprotective of (Y/N). After Ursa had left, he didn't want the same thing to happen to the survivor. Though, there were times when she would ask to be alone. She didn't want to be guarded all day every day. It was fine at first, but then it started to feel like Zuko was more of a bodyguard than a friend. & she didn't want the same thing for anyone.

One day, (Y/N) was roaming down the halls of the Royal home. She had just finished her novel & was wandering around to find a library. She looked around the top floors. No library. Then she went to the lower floor. No library there either. She went to a lower floor. But then she saw something that caught her eye. A poster. Normally, (Y/N) wouldn't give a damn about posters, but this one had stood out the most. She walked to it & read what it said.

Agni Kai

"Agni Kai? What is that?" She muttered. She was unfamiliar with it & never heard of it. Thankfully, a firebender was walking by. So she asked him.

"Excuse me?" She asked. The firebender turned to her,

"Can you explain to me what an Agni Kai is?" The soldier kneeled to her level.

"That's a good question. An Agni Kai is a firebender duel that is centuries old. It's a fight for one's honour & is won only when one opponent burns the other. There's an Agni Kai chamber in the Royal Palace. But it can only take place if there is conflict. There's one today if you want to go there."

"Sure, I'd like to see."

Then the soldier proceeded to take (Y/N) to the Agni Kai chamber. It looked as if it were the championships. Some people were sitting down, waiting. They were in front of a square stage. The soldier then left the chamber, leaving (Y/N) on her own. She took a breath & went to sit down, waiting for the Agni Kai to begin.

Two Firebenders then walked onto the stage. They stood in front of each other for a minute. Then, one shot fire at their opponent. He dodged it & shot fire back. The Agni Kai began. Everyone was either cheering or keeping silent while (Y/N) was amazed by what was happening. She had no idea there could be a duel. Maybe she should try it herself.

When the Agni Kai ended, there was one firebender on the floor & the other one standing. Everyone cheered for the standing firebender. He won the dual. (Y/N) knew that she shouldn't encourage violence, but she couldn't help it. The Agni Kai's look like so much fun. These next few years that she'll spend will be interesting.

*~*~*

For the next few weeks, (Y/N) had been going to Agni Kai's. She also reenact the firebending techniques when she was alone. She used them as fighting skills. Yes, even though she's not a firebender, this could protect her from the outsiders trying to hurt her.

Because of this, (Y/N) had also been thinking of ways to get back at some of the Firebenders who had tormented her. But she couldn't just fight them face to face. She had to keep training till she was ready. (Y/N) also had to hide her skills because she didn't want to show them yet. Maybe she could surprise them when she enters an Agni Kai.

She started to feel better as time went on. But not that much. Recently, she had got several people wrapped around her finger. They would admire her, talk about her, even do something to impress her. But (Y/N) seemed to be fazed by it. However, she did notice how her friends (Zuko, Azula, Mai, & Ty Lee) were getting jealous or would pull her away from her admirers. (Y/N) had no idea why.

Two years later, (Y/N) grew up into a magnificent young lady. After practising for many hours, she felt like a warrior. Maybe one day, she'll consider leaving the Fire Nation & join the other warriors in the Earth Kingdom. She knows that it'll feel like abandoning her friends, but she still wants to let go.
