It had been a few days since Ruth had sent a letter to her friend, it had finally reached its destination on mail day.

Margaret had spent the time since Ruth left depressed and worried. She didn't know if her best friend had been killed or taken against her will, however.. her heart stopped when she received a letter from Ruth Bucker.

With eagerness, she tore open the envelope.

Now, Ruth was mostly illiterate, so writing a letter with no help proved to be a challenge.

Most things were spelled wrong and the sentences were very short and abrupt.

(For readers' sake, I am going to spell things correctly in this rendition, just imagine it like a toddler wrote it.)

" to my friend, Margie..

I am sorry for leaving you.

By that I mean not dead.

I've missed you.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Your friend,

Ruth Bucker.

P.S.

Please write back to 'Tacitus Kilgore' ."

The letter assured Margaret that her friend was alive and well, her spirits already lightened by the news.

She was confused by the instruction of addressing the letter to a random fellows name, though she did not question it.

Margaret got to writing her own letter right away, making sure not to use large words or long sentences, aware of the fact that Ruth was not very literate.

When done, she enclosed the letter in the envelope, along with two gifts she had been holding for her;

Something that had belonged to Ruth before she disappeared.

And something that had belonged to Margaret.

By the end of the same day of receiving the letter, she had sent hers..

Hoping that it would reach her friend that she longed to see again.

((Hi guys, sorry for the short chapter. Felt like it didn't need much more than this. I'm going to be taking a short hiatus from writing because I start college in a couple of days. Anyways, thanks so much for reading <3 ))
