Chapter 24

The next morning I woke up and saw that Daryl was already gone. I heard people talking outside and stood up from the couch. I dressed up and as I opened the door I saw Jesus right in front of it, helding his hand up.

"Oh well hello, I was about to knock on the door but yeah." Jesus laughed. I walked out and closed the door.

"How can I help you Jesus?" I smiled at him. "Well I just wanted to know how you are feeling and how your sleep was?" he replied.

"I'm pretty nervous because I'm scared of my people and I don't know what Negan will do in Alexandria. I guess I just should've went back to the Sanctuary with him..." I said. "Nah nah nah, I'm sure nothing bad happens, Rick is a god man and Negan and him made a deal...well a deal Negan chose, but Rick does everything for his people so Negan gets what he wants and that's all. I'm pretty sure he actually forgot that you escaped." Jesus laughed and I nodded. "Yeah maybe" I said with a sarcastic laugh.

"Let's go and get Maggie, then we'll introduce you to our 'leader' Gregory alright?" Jesus said. "Okay, I go and get her." I said and Jesus walked away. I knocked on Maggie's and Sasha's door and Sasha opened for me. "Hey Ava, what can I do for you?" she asked with a bright smile. "Is Maggie here? Jesus said I should go and get her and we'll meet Gregory." I replied. "Ah yes, yeah Maggie is in Gregory's office already. She's talking to him about you and she tries to convince him that you're allowed to stay. Gregory is a bit stubborn and it takes a while, but you can go inside the house and get to his office too." Sasha said.

"Oh okay, thanks Sash. Is Gregory a...you know?" I asked. "Asshole?" she raised an eyebrow and I nodded. "Sometimes. At first he didn't allow Maggie to stay here even after we told him she's pregnant...but then he gets us a trailer just for us with 2 beds instead of a couch. He has many mood swings so you better pray he's in a good mood today." she chuckled.

"Alright, then I'll go inside now. Thank you" I smiled and she nodded.

I opened the huge doors that leads into the massive building and heard yellings from a room. It was Maggie's voice and I followed it. As I stood in front of a big wooden door I was about to knock but the door swang open and there stood Maggie with a really angry face. "Oh Ava, nice to see you, I was about to come and get you, but perfect that you're here. Come in." she smiled.

I did and she closed the door behind me. I looked around the room and then stared in an old man's face. I smiled lightly but he stood there like an idot, no expression on his face. "Hi, you must be Gregory. I'm Ava Cohan and I really hope I'm allowed to stay here." I said and walked up to him to shake his hand but he didn't move. "Gregory?" Maggie asked. "Huh, what yeah, sure, hi A-Ava? Ava right?" he asked. "Yeah" I smiled awkwardly.

"Jesus you didn't tell me that we get another guest. Why is she here? Where should I put her? I can't give her a trailer on her own." Gregory said.

"Ava escaped from Negan. She escaped from him after he kidnapped her in Alexandria." Maggie explained and Gregory's eyes widened.

I looked at Jesus with panic and he made a hand motion to me to calm down.
"Oh I don't think it's a great idea to let her stay then. What if Negan finds out we let her live her? He'll kill me, you and everyone else here." Gregory said.

"Negan won't find out because he doesn't even know that we're friends with Alexandria. And if the Saviors come and visit and steal our stuff we'll hide her. And I gave her a trailer. If she wants to live alone in there she can do that. We have enough trailers so she could live alone if she want to. Otherwise I can give Sasha and Maggie a bigger trailer and she can move in with them."

"Ugh. But we have other people too." Gregory replied. "Yeah and enough trailer. Let her make the choice." Jesus smiled at me.

"I- I don't really care if I live al-" I said but Maggie interrupted me. "She'll live with Sasha and me." she smiled because she noticed how uncomfortable I felt with replying.
