I rushed out to the door, opened it and saw Ron with the Chief (whose name was Neville). Neville was a boastful man who always shows off his "skills" to the villagers. He had a beard, he wore armor almost all the time and he ate from the vendors without even paying.
"This is the boy?" asked Neville.
"Yes sire," replied Ron.
"Well I expected him to at least be taller! I can't train him! He is underage and he is short!"
"With all due respect sir, but-" I said before I was interrupted.
"But sir, his skills are better than our new recruits' skills" said Ron
I stayed silent as the chief intently looked at me.
"Hmm. Show me this 'skill' of yours that you say you have," said the chief.
I nodded then got to it. I did hand tricks, hand maneuvers, unawkward thrusts. I was doing my best that day!
"Stop. I've seen enough." Said the chief.
I just stood where I was. I waited for the decision. My heart, pounding. My sweat, cold. My head, throbbing. That moment, intense. The chief stayed silent for a whole minute.
"I have made my decision," said Neville. "I will allow you to train,"
My eyes widened as he said that. "Thank you sir!"
"Wait, I haven't finished. I will allow you to train with the new members, but, once you join, Hyrule castle will be your new home."
"But wait, what about my father?" I asked.
"He will be fine. Trust me." Said the chief with a smile. A mischievous smile. Then he strode back to the castle. Ron gestured to me to follow him. I asked him to wait. I went inside my house, got dressed into my green tunic, put on my boots grabbed my cap and wished my father good health.
"Be careful out there Link," he said.
"I will," I said. Then I went off to the castle.
