Dark. Everything was dark when I came to, or did I?
Is this how I die? Am I dead? I'm not scared. That's a lie. I am, just a little. I'm not ready to die. Or am I?
My mind wondered as I felt around for anything. I could feel concrete nearly everywhere, and a little bit of metal? I backed away out of fear and just curled into a fetal position. I felt like crying, not of fear of never getting found or suffocating, but fear I would be found and end up who knows where.
Maybe sent to an orphanage, or worse, back to my mother. I weeped with knees to my chest and held my face in my hands. I was shaking violently and was spiraling into a blind panic, just like the one I had attacking my mom all those months ago.
I almost felt like passing out and I couldn't breathe anymore as my chest heaved up and down and my heart raced. I was going to die trapped here, with no hope of surviving this cruel world. Fine by me. Who cares? Who cares about me? Why would anyone care?
"Over here! Hurry!"
Voices. I hear voices.
"A survivor?" Said one.
"Quickly! They may still be alive!" Said another.
"You said it was a child, sir?"
"Hurry, Ratchet!"The echoes of voices rang in the dark until a flash of light peaked in, the cavern of rubble and debris was suddenly being lifted over my head. I notice giant pairs of metal hands were somehow my saving grace and I jolted upright, backing away as if I was able to hide from them quick enough.
The debris was fully lifted, tossed to the side, and I could see two giant robot creatures. One was a vibrant yellow-green with medical and emergency patterns and signs. The other, was the red and blue one. His glowing blue eyes met mine and I felt stuck in place. I noticed both creatures looked at me in a daze and I may have shared the same expression."Thank the AllSpark." The blue one said relieved, it's voice was male and came as an older, yet, soft baritone. "She's alive."
"Easy now, she may be in shock. Be as it may, her vitals seem normal. Are you hurt by any chance, youngling?" The yellow one turned and asked me in a gravelly, older male voice.
I could only stare at the blue and red giant. I couldn't keep my eyes off of it, rather, him, and he stared back. He looked confused and took a step closer.
"Sir." The yellow one started, only to cut off by a simple hand motion.
The blue one stepped carefully towards me and crouched to get near to my level as best he could. His face was only a few feet away from mine.
"Young one, forgive me. I was oblivious to your presence and I put your life in danger." He said softly to me. "Are you quite alright?"
I didn't move as I studied his face thoroughly. He didn't seem to smile or anything, but his metal face seemed relaxed, his gaze and voice softened it for him. His emotion was genuine despite showing it with physical attributes. I liked the soothing feeling of his presence. I feel...safe?
"Young one, apologies, do we frighten you? Do I frighten you?" He asked more questions.
It was enough to pull me out of my trance and I looked up at him. Was I scared? Doesn't feel like it. Why is this not scary? They know I'm here, but who is to take me away? They're not...
They're not human...Exactly.
I finally convinced myself to move again and stood up upon the ground, and shook my head in response to the giant's question. He seemed satisfied, but it turned to confusion as I walked towards him. I didn't know what I was doing, I couldn't help myself. I slowly made my way towards him and his eyes rotated and focused in and out searching mine, almost asking me as to what I was doing.
I don't even know.
"Youngling?"
"Sir, maybe..."
"Ratchet, please."
He shifted carefully and offered one of his hands to me. I stopped and hesitated, looking up at him for a explanation. He only nodded and I chose to climb upon it, maintaining balance as he pulled me to eye level. It was insane how tall he really was, but it didn't bother me much. His metal was a little cold, surprisingly comfortable, and I felt calm as I closed in on his face.
We meet eye to eye again and this time I raised my hands, slowly and gently placed my palms upon his faceplates. The giant froze and didn't speak as I felt his features. The metal was the same as his hands, only warmer this time.
"Huh, the little one seems to be quite curious." The one known as Ratchet had said.
"Indeed." Said my giant. "As am I."
I stopped my hands as he lowered his face a little more. His eyes were really focused on me, but what caught my attention was how much emotion they held. This creature was nothing like a human, yet, seemed to even have emotions like they do. Nonsense. Humans are vile and cruel beings.
I raised one of my hands this time and touched the side of his face and held it there. For a moment, I swore he leaned into my touch."Youngling, may I ask your name?" He softly questioned.
I met his eyes again and mine widened a little, taken aback that I nearly may have forgotten my name. Mommy always called me something else, but that. Thankfully, it creeped back into my memory and I looked at my giant eagerly to tell him.
"Kiaria." I nearly whispered. "My name is Kiaria Lucia."
"Greetings, Kiaria. My name is Optimus Prime."
I felt warm inside as I smiled for the first time in forever. I felt happy.
