I can't see. Where am I?
Am I dead?
Yes.
No.
Maybe.

Who is to tell.

First, try opening your eyes.

My eyes opened on command and I could see damaged ruins and a battle scarred courtyard. The war still going as Cybertronians and humans were fighting either with, or against each other. Smoke and dust clouded the surrounding air.
I could see the blood and dirt on people's faces as I passed them, yet, no one looked at me, or in my direction in general. My eyes wandered around more and I could also see the various Autobots, with saddened faces, surround something else on the ground, no, someone. Feeling hazy, I strode over towards the grand commotion.
My heart and mind felt empty when my eyes fell upon the sight. A young girl's body laid there, unconscious and oblivious to the world. Next to her, the boy she tried so desperately to protect. Not by will or choice, of course, only on an empty promise. Might as well have only been an empty promise, for she had failed.

She had died.
Or was she always dead? Never truly alive as long as she could remember, a servant to the system, a weapon for others and their benefits, a disgrace to those who never loved her and abused their power over her until she fled.
What was she riding on anyhow, the hopes to live a true life? To belong somewhere? To belong to a family who wanted her? Was the struggle all worth it?
I felt empty and lost, like I had shifted into someone new. Only, I couldn't feel any emotion, or ties, to reconnect back to this world, or the body that laid asleep forever. No joy, no despair, no pain, no anger, and no remorse. There was no emotion for those who screamed and cried over the unconscious and burned boy as they tried desperately to resuscitate him.
There was no emotion for the man, a supposed strong leader of men, who was crying over the sleeping girl he had gently scooped up and cradled her in his arms. Trying to bring her back as well, since the others had failed attempts. She was too gone, too soon. Tears poured from his face and fell onto her cheeks as he cried. More of how he screamed. Oh, how he screamed. He screamed like bloody murder for her name, screamed for her to awaken and wept promises of a better life, but she couldn't hear him.
Her makeshift bandana bandage was covered in half-dried blood, her face and limbs covered in old and new scars and wounds, and the fresh burns from the recent explosion of fire. Her arms hung down from her sides and her precious little knife slipped out from one of her hands.
The one whom she could call her brother, cried the loudest as he came over and began falling to his knees, and bowed his head over the sight of the presumed dead children. His comrades all did the same, mourning the supposed loss of a friend and family. If they could cry tears like the humans, they would flood the land with waterfalls and make rivers and an ocean over the entire town.

"Come, child. You will not die, not unless you remain in this heartless mirage." A familiar chorus of voices whispered and I blankly turned around to follow it elsewhere, like a zombie. Or was I a phantom of that girl? A daydream? A nightmare? Regardless, I had no idea where I was going, nor did I have the thought to care. I only did as I was told. Not even questioning my will to leave such a sight behind. The scenery changed into an empty valley of rock formations and another figure stood before me in the center.
The boy.
He seemed fine here, no scars, burns, cuts, or any physical injuries and he smiled when he turned around and his green eyes met mine. He glided over and kneeled down to my level.

"Kiaria."

His voice said the name and reminded my existence to the other world. A wave of realization washed over me and I fell to my knees in turn, the boy caught me and I did not shiver at his touch, granted I still did not care for it. Even in this place.
"Sam." His name fell out of my mouth. "I'm very sorry."
"Don't be." Was all he said with a smile. "We tried our best."
"Yes, but...where are we?" I asked, puzzled and examined the new terrain. "Are we dead?"
"No, dear child of the light." The familiar voices returned and answered. Sam and I looked at each other in timid confusion. That was until we saw them...
Twelve large beings slowly walked out from the distant light before us, towering over us, but they didn't feel intimidating or threatening. Their presence felt powerful and humbling. I felt honored to be near them.
"I know you." I said to them calmly. How I knew them was drawing a blank, but instincts seem to not lie here.
"Yes, child." They started. "We were the ones who have called to you before. The ones who protect life in it's very existence. We are protecting you as of right now, so that we may speak in person."

The Twelve of the Thirteen Primes.

"We have seen how you both fought side by side. How you both have fought for Optimus, our last descendant." One said.
"How fortunate that he has crossed paths with someone of your nature. Born from destruction and reborn into a vessel of courage and sacrifice, virtues of a true leader someday." Said another.

"Leader? I am no leader." I hung my head, my emotions were returning and the first was guilt. "I am a coward, not courageous. If any of the sacrifice of what you said exists, then it was in vain of my own selfishness."
I took a pause before continuing my shame.
"I turned my back on my world and my own kind and I fear I will continue that. My choices were only in thought of my own benefits and I am a fool to ever think I could prove that I'm anything past that."
The twelve beings looked amongst themselves and faced back to us, "Perhaps that may be true. However, your world's familiar lesson teaches that actions are greater than words. For your actions have proven enough that you are now ready and worthy of our secrets." They said together.
I stood up and gave Sam a confused look. He only shrugged and nodded at their direction. I faced them as we listened for their wisdom.
"The Matrix of Leadership was not to be ever found, it is to be earned. Both of you are to return to Optimus. Merge the Matrix with his Spark. It is both of your destinies."

"Farewell, child of light. We shall cross paths again when the time comes. You have much to learn."

The light behind the Twelve Primes grew brighter, then faded in a flash, and everything went dark again.
