The next few days were spent seeing how sickbay worked. Seeing the know how and what'll be expected of him. T'ming also spent the next few day talking with John and "admiring" his hourglass figure. He then had to cockily explain to her that this way because he didn't have "birthing hips." Which caused her to hit the back of his head. But even though her days were spent with John. He was really just a friend. She spent her evenings with S'lack. John did likewise with Lily. Though whether they spent their evenings in the same way as S'lack and T'ming is up for debate.

On the last night of their week long internship they heard the door chime. It was at a red alert stage so everyone was in their quarters. They let the person in but were miffed to be intruded upon. As it turns out it had been someone from the bridge. They specifically wanted S'lack but wouldn't give the reason there. T'ming insisted on coming along too. Now matter how much S'lack wanted her to say in their quarters. But she was very adamant about following. They went up to the bridge and followed Captain Miller into his ready room. While the captain sat at one side of the table in the room T'ming made sure to sit next to S'lack on the other side. Holding his hand because she knew that if you weren't working on the ship they rarely ever singled you out individually. She also knew that this was important because they were still at red alert.

When the captain began to talk S'lack listened vary carefully. He felt that this had something to do with him.

"As you might know we are currently under a threat from the Romulan battleship "Hnoiyika Thrai"

They both shook their heads but S'lack spoke, "But what do they want from me?"

"Not from you, they want you."

"Captain I don't understand?"

"From what I understand your mother was a Romulan?"

S'lack nodded his head in agreement.

"Now I won't hold any prejudices because you are a Vulcan and therefore you live in the protection of the Federation. But I was talking to the captain of the "Hnoiyika Thrai" and it seems that your mother was of bloodline of a royal family that ruled a vast empire for many a millennial. However the last of the pure bloodline has died out and apparently you're the last surviving heir. They want you to go back to Romulus and rule."

T'ming squeezed his had very hard. She was not about to let him go. S'lack said, "What happens if I say no?"

The captain took a deep breath, "That's the thing, it really up to you but you say no and the empire your family ruled..."

S'lack cut him off, "They're not my family Captain, I never met nor knew these people."

"Either way it will disintegrate in to a civil blood bath. But you do have the righ to say no."

S'lack gulped, he didn't want thousands of innocent lives taken because of one small word. "But Captain, I have no idea how they ruled, who they were I never even met my biological mother! I don't even consider myself Romulan!"

"This is a difficult desicion. I do know; in every man's life he has to ask himself a very very big question and I think this one is yours." The captain got up and left, leaving them to discuss what to do.

S'lack didn't need to think about it though. He had made his mind up, he didn't want to hear T'ming pleading mostly. They stood up and walked onto the bridge. Putting on his best face S'lack said, "I'll go."

T'ming shouted, "No! no you can't leave me!"

Captain Miller led him to the transporter room, but had to wait for the signal from the bridge that they've told the Romulans he's coming. When the captain nodded letting them know it was a go. S'lack stepped onto the transporter pad. But before the pulled the lever to beam him down he had to say a few things to T'ming.
