Lila softly smiled as she ruffled her brother's already curly blond hair, her light blue eyes shining in the hallway lights. "Do I really have to go? Can't you just homeschool me like you did in middle school?"

He asked, his demeanor filled with desperation. Lila smiled at him, a hand placed on her hip, "Daniel you've been asking me this same question for weeks and the answer is still no."

He looked at her in defeat, his eyes narrowed, "Listen Daniel, you're going to school and you're going to like it."

Daniel sighed with a nod, he didn't want to go back to school again, he didn't want to go anywhere that wasn't home, it felt like everywhere he went wasn't safe anymore. "I'll see you later k sis," He said dully, swinging his bag over his shoulder and opening the door slightly.

Lila let out a soft sigh and waved good-bye as Daniel walked out of the house, he sighed tiredly as the door shut behind him, the thought of skipping school crossed his mind though his sister would be upset by it so that was a no go.

His final option was to just suck it up and go to school, he walked out to the sidewalk kicking small rocks to the side as if they were soccer balls, even he would admit, he enjoyed it.

~~~
Daniel continued walking along the sidewalk, crossing the road and walking into a different neighborhood from time to time, and maybe hitting the street signs for fun once and a while but he made it to school ten minutes early. Fantastic, I'm early.
Daniel scolded himself and continued walking into the building making his way past the freshman standing around the front entrance, he rolled his eyes at anyone who tried to talk to him and just kept walking past them. As his classroom door appeared in view a sigh of relief came to him, I'm almost there, finally.
He kept walking towards the classroom, he passed by a few people on the way, the popular kids, always talking about makeup and clothes. The hall monitor, Candlin, long story short, she did not like him one bit. The bullies and the jocks, who were being told off by Candlin for trying to stuff a freshman in a locker.
He just kept walking, pretending to be as clueless as everyone thinks he is. What fools they were.
Anyways, he reached his class without much issue and walked inside, the classroom was neatly organized,  bookshelves in the back, the teachers desk in the front in front of the blackboard and next to the exit, and the student desks lined up in perfect rows.
It amazed him how neat it was, considering this was high school. Daniel walked back silently to his desk, there were a few students but they kept the volume down which is much appreciated.
He reached his seat in the back corner of the room next to the silent kid, personally Daniel has never heard that kid speak, or he just wasn't listening, he never knew.
He took notice of the kid per usual, His carcol black hair curled around his head over the right side of his face while falling back on his shoulders, his icy blue eyes narrowed on his book, his standard black jacket over a plain white shirt, black jeans ripped over the knees with a pair of blue and white shoes.
Daniel always found it much more comfortable to observe people rather than talking to them, he just never knew how people would react to him.
He placed his bag onto the floor as he sat down at his assigned seat, he gazed out the window as the clock continued to tick down, the sky was a wonder gradient mix of pale blue and pastel pink with gentle hints of gold.
He hated being at school, he would rather be outside, under the morning sun, like he used to do. Daniel continued to day dream out the window while more students filled the classroom, he sighed and buried his head away in his arms on his desk as he heard the teacher start to call out names for attendance.
Daniel simply rolled his eyes and kept his head down in attempt to mute out the teacher, he hated most of the teachers in the school, The art teacher was okay, same thing for the science teacher, but the math teacher, he's almost as worse as those fat mans with power.
And as always, he was unlucky enough to have him for a homeroom teacher, life was so unfair. "Mr. Rochester? Is he here today?" He asked in an annoyed tone, pur usual.
Daniel continued to stay silent and pretend he wasn't there, if he was honest the teacher himself probably didn't want Daniel in his class either. He heard a sudden light tap on his desk, his head perked up slightly at the noise.
The silent kid next to him was leaning to Daniel desk, his left hand on the edge of it, seemingly where he tapped. "What?" Daniel asked quietly, the kid pointed to the front of the class as he went back to his own desk.
He took a glance to the front and made direct eye contact with Mr. Swampson, his least favorite teacher.
"Mr. Rochester, can you please respond to me when I call your name." He said sternly, Daniel rolled his eyes and nodded slowly, though Mr. Swampson tapped his foot and glare at him.
Daniel sighed and raised his hand slightly, "Present." The teacher nodded and glance at his clipboard, "Thank you." He said dully. Now he knows how his sister feels.
~~~

The rest of the morning passed swiftly, he only really annoyed Mr. Swapson that day, he didn't exactly feel bad though, he wasn't the nicest to him students.

Anyways, he walked around the school building till he found his usual spot to eat, he walked into the extra classroom just next to the library.

He didn't really have any friends, thus why he always ate alone in an empty classroom, he took his lunch out of his bag that his sister made for him, she was always so kind.

She had packed him her homemade pasta left over from the night before and added two meatballs into it, what would I do without you sis.

"So you always eat alone don't you?" A girl spoke, her hazel brown hair tied loosely into a ponytail, "Yeah? And?" He asked, taking a full notice of her outfit.

Her eyes were a wonderful dark brown, she wore a light pink shirt under an oversized dark grey jacket, her skirt was long and snowy white, her stocking were black and blue with white and pink sneakers.

The girl giggled, "Do you not have any friends?"

Daniel scolded at her, he wanted her to leave, "Oh sorry I didn't mean it like that," she continued. Daniel raised an eyebrow at her, as she came over to him.

"How would you like to have some?" She extended a hand towards him from behind her back, "It's nice to mean you, I'm Laurel Harter."
