LIAM'S POV:

FLASHBACK ON

- we will always be together, theo. - i said while running from theo's parents after messing up the kitchen in a food war. we were having a sleepover at his place.

- i always have to clean up your mess! i'm done with it. - hayden complained.

FLASHBACK OFF

this is like, the only clear memory i have from before he moved.

- liam? - mason wakes me from my trance.

- huh? - coach finstock was staring at me with an angry face.

- DUNBAR! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT!? - it was almost a jumpscare.

- sorry coach, i just had... a good memory.

- what good memory?

- a childhood memory. - i responded trying not to say much about it.

well, you can have childhood memories after the class. DETENTION!

- damn it, not today... - i whispered so only i could hear it.

---AFTER SCHOOL---

- it's finally over. - i said to hayden when i got home.

she seemed sad, probably because i spent almost the whole day at school, on our birthday.

- hey lili... - my sister said, with her head slightly down while playing with a lock of her dark brown hair.

when we were kids, theo used to say her hair was "brown just like black chocolate", even though mini hayden never agreed to that. she used to say her hair was "blackish brown". according to her, that meant it was a mix of black and brown. i miss the old days.

- is everything okay, hay? - i said while leaving my backpack on the couch.

- yeah, it's just... i miss him... - even though she didn't say who she was talking about, i knew it was theo, because we mentally agreed not to mention his name. he was our best friend while children. we basically grew up together, but he had to move when he was 14 because of his parents' work.

- i miss him too... specially today... - i tried to make her feel better - but we need to accept the fact that he moved and probably doesn't even remember us.

saying this hurts more than i thought, but my sister just nodded.
