It's all lies, darling

Trigger Warning: mentions needles

"Good morning Alethea, dearest." His soft voice says.

I awoke to see Wilbur sitting on the corner of my bed. He looked down at me with his warm chocolate eyes.

"Good morning Wilbur." I yawned back.

"I brought you your favorite breakfast." He smiled.

He held out a basket that held a plate full of pancakes, syrup, an assortment of all kinds of fruit, and orange juice.

I gasped excitedly.

"Thank you!" I ran over to the table and placed the basket down. I set breakfast on a plate and quickly started digging into the delicious food.

Wilbur watched me pleased with my reaction.

"As much as I hate to leave you, I have to go, my love." He brought his hand to touch my cheek. I pouted back at him. It was the same routine every day. He would bring me breakfast, leave for the day, and come back late at night.

"Can't you bring me with you?" I whined.

"Alethea you know the rules." He said sternly.

"Yeah yeah, no leaving the tower under any circumstances." I rolled my eyes.

"It's only to keep you safe my dear. The dangerous creatures outside of this tower will only cause you pain and suffering. I do this because I love you." He looked at me with such sad and caring eyes I knew I would never disobey him.

"I understand." I looked down at my feet ashamed I even asked.

"Good girl. Now I'll be back later tonight." Wilbur said climbing down the brick tower. He used the same old rope to get up and down. He waved from the bottom and began his trek through the thick forest.

I watched him as he left the small valley. The area we lived in was kept away from all human life. Huge rocks and mountains closed off the area and thick trees and vines covered the outer walls of the clearing. Overgrown grass covered the ground below the tower. Flowers grew all around making this place a beautiful sight.

Once upon a time, I had been climbing a tree in the forest. Apparently, my foot slipped and I hit my head. I lost all memories because of the incident. I was around 16 years old at the time. When I woke up I had been in the tower with a bad concussion. Wilbur was there tending to the cuts and scratches I had acquired. Since then he constantly reminded me of the dangers outside our home.

While he was gone I spent the rest of my time up at the top of the tower doing whatever I pleased.

I would paint everything and anything. Wilbur supplied me with everything I could ever want. The walls were covered in paintings of flowers, girls in white dresses, bears wearing hats, anything you could imagine. Of course, I did more than paint. I read books, baked all sorts of pastries, cleaned every surface of the room, and stared at the ceiling. I had done this my whole life. I hope you understand how this could get boring.
