Chapter 6

Dane's POV

I just finished working. I took my phone as I dialed Alyana's number. I want her to eat dinner with me at my place. Unfortunately, she didn't answer my calls.

"Is it booty calls or something?" Anika asked as I glared at her

"It's not a booty call. She's my woman. The woman I love the most." I said

"Oh really? Then why choose me?" She asked

"Dad likes you. He wants me to be with you." I said

"You should try and fall in love with me." Anika said

"You are nothing compared to Alyana. She's one in a million." Sabi ko

"Ang sakit naman nun." Sabi niya

"Truth hurts." I shrugged

"Ano bang meron sa Alyana na yan?" Tanong ni Anika

"She clearly has everything." Simple kong sagot

"You proposed to me. What was that for?" Tanong ni Anika

"It's for business. It has nothing to do with love." I answered

"Wow. So you're just playing with me?" She asked

"As soon as the wedding's done and our companies will be united as one, I'll be filing for a divorce. I have nothing to do with you" sagot ko

"What if I'll be pregnant with our child? Will you stay?" Anika asked

"It won't happen. I would never fuck you." Sabi ko at umalis na sa office ko

Nagmamadali akong pumunta sa parking lot at nagsimula na akong magmaneho papunta sa condo ni Alyana. Nung nakarating na ako, nag doorbell ako. Binuksan naman niya agad yun at pumasok ako.

"I'm sorry. Busy lang talaga ako these past few days. Can I make it up to you?" I asked

"Yeah. Sure." Sagot niya

"What's wrong?" I asked

"It's always been like this. I mean, you're never there for me." Sabi niya

"Here we go again. Do you really think that I was with Anika the whole time?" I asked

"This has nothing to do with Anika! You know that!" She raised her voice

"Okay? Then what? It's all about the two of us. Is it?" I asked

"Yes, Dane. It's about the two of us. You didn't tell me anything about the wedding!" She yelled

"Wedding. It's just a wedding, Al. I'm going to file for a divorce right after the company-" I stopped because she started shouting

"Well, I don't give a damn about the company! Marry the company and leave me alone if that's what you want!" She yelled

I sighed "You know that I love you, Al. I always do." I said

"You know what? You're full of bullshit." She shook her head and went to the kitchen

"I hate fighting." I said

"We're not fighting." She said calmly

"We always do." Sabi ko

"Just leave me alone." Sabi niya kaya lumabas nalang ako at pumunta sa parking lot. Pumasok na ako sa aking kotse at napag isipan kong pumunta sa kambal kong si Dan. Nakarating na ako sa kanila. Fraternal twins kami ni Dan. Sobrang ganda nga ni Dan kahit papaano. Pero syempre magkamukha pa din kaming tatlo ni daddy.

"Do you mind if I can give you an advice?" Dan asked

"Yeah, sure." Sabi ko

"Choose her! Make her feel wanted. Don't let her chase you, Dane. You should be the one chasing her" Dan said

"I get it. Sorry if it looks like she's the one chasing me. I didn't mean for this to happen." Sabi ko

"Don't apologize to me. Apologize to her, idiot!" Dan rolled her eyes while she's washing the dishes

"She won't even listen!" I yelled

"If I were her, I won't listen to you either." Sabi ni Dan

"Why are you so mean?" I asked

"That's because you don't know how to win her back" sabi ni Dan

"Okay, how? How?" I asked

"Cancel the engagement with Anika." Dan said

"What? No. We will lose the partnership!" Sabi ko

"Yan! Hindi ka kasi na kuntento. Makuntento ka naman sa company ni dad. You wanted more, kaya gusto mong makikipag partner kay Anika" sabi ni Dan

"Yes, Dan. I wanted more. Dahil sa buong buhay ko, ikino compare lang ako ni dad dyan sa'yo. I did my best to make him proud of me, but I got no luck. He loves you more than me." Sagot ko

"Look, Dane. I don't know how to comfort you. But don't ruin your happiness trying to please other people. You're suffering. Don't make it harder than this." Sabi ni Dan

She's right. I am ruining my happiness trying to please my dad. All my life I've been working for the company. I'm not as brave as Dan. She gave up the company just to be with Trent. I wish I can do that. I wish I can make more money if I am able to give up the company.

"I wish I can help you." Sabi ni Trent habang umiinom ito ng wine

"It's okay." I said as I took another sip of the wine

Kami nalang dalawa ni Trent dito sa living room nila dahil nandun sa itaas si Dan at si Terrence.

"I think I know what's wrong. You're scared that if you'd pick Alyana over the company, you won't make as much money as you're making now." Sabi ni Trent

"Yeah. You're right. I'm just scared. I can't lose everything. I've been working so hard for this company." Sabi ko

"What about the woman you love? Are you willing to lose her?" Trent asked

"Well, I'm not gonna lose her. I told her about my plans. I'm getting married to Anika and I'll file for a divorce after 2 years." Sabi ko

"Do you think she can wait? Do you think she can bear the pain? Did you give her the assurance that you will come back?" Trent asked

That makes sense. It all makes sense now. I thought I can choose both. The company and Alyana. But it's really hard. Loving someone is hard.
