This early morning shit is not happening! I am fuming. Silently. While treading the path to meet up with the other hikers. Bloody fucked up timing. Who the fuck starts anything at three fucking thirty am.
None of us, the girls I mean, are morning people. I knew this about Ananya and Becca from before, during the event days. That is one more thing that has connected us.
I almost trip over a rock, but Becca holds me upright.
"Thunks." I grumble.
"Nuprolem." She replies.
Liam starts snickering. I turn to my right and see James looking at Becca, eyes shining. I roll my eyes but have to admit it's pretty sweet. Liam is still snickering when a shadow steps in our path. I am about to collide with the shadow when Ananya instantly pulls me to the side, then Logan steps forward to catch us both in case we fall. But Ananya keeps us steady. We turn and see Julian standing there. Looking fresh and handsome. My eyes rake over his form like a hungry animal. I shake my head and realize that in no world could I be a predator next to someone like Julian.
He looks at us with a smirk on his face.
"Too early in the morning?" he asks, with that smug smirk in place.
The girls stay quiet.
James smiles back, "As you can see, everyone is super fresh and all charged up to start our hike!" He exclaims with false cheerfulness.
The other two men snicker as their eyes dart to us. Becca rolls her eyes and starts moving forward. I decide to follow her and Ananya falls in behind me. None of us have uttered a word to Julian, except nod our heads at him.
Julian falls in step with Becca ahead of me.
"Hey Becca," he greets her
"Hmm." She grunts. Something that James finds very funny.
Julian turns to me, and starts walking backwards. "Good morning girls," he says, addressing both Ananya and I.
I just nod. Ananya says, "hmm."
Their snickering gets louder at this point.
"Wow. You guys are really not morning people are you"
Why is he even talking to us still? Yeah, we aren't morning people.
"At least answer me, it isn't polite you know."
"Shuthefuckupitstoolateatnighttotalk," Ananya says grumbling under her breath.
Julian's eyes widen as the boys start laughing heartily at her response. Logan steps up and wraps his arms around her shoulder and she hides her face in his chest for a moment then continues walking.
I look forward only to find Julian walking next to me looking at me.
"Whut." I ask him. I know our words are not clear. But hey, it's too late at night, like Ana said.
His mouth tilts up and he says, "We have coffee at the meeting point." He whispers to me as if it's a secret. I have to smile at this.
We reach the meet up point and a dusky brunette steps in the center to address us. There must be 60-70 of us going on the hike today.
