I look at them, each one listening intently to what I have to say. Ananya and Becca are downright crying. Tears prick my eyes as well, but I refuse to allow my emotions to come into play. Not after all this time. Not when I am this close to my goal. All I have to do is keep the faith that it will work.
As I open my mouth to continue the story, Ananya wipes the tears from her face and speaks up, "Hang on. So the Stars that predetermine the ascension, are those the same stars that the ancients turn into?"
Pride blooms in my chest. Nobody else but she could have picked this up.
"Listen to the story little warrior," I smile at her. She frowns, but nods at the same time.
"So, it was during the ruling of the Emperor Ankh-Mat-Rai and Empress Celeste of the Seyfret Galaxy, when things first started to change. It so happened that they, their best friends and allies, all had kids the same century. Remember, for that civilisation, children were not something that had to happen, it was merely by choice, and every birth was celebrated for years. So this one century, they gave birth to their one and only set of twins, Tarquin and Damaria, a boy and a girl who were each other's world. The other kids born the same century were Trista, Cicero – Trista's elder brother, Ruadan and his sister Nicasia, Magnar, and Ozias. While the kids were growing up, they came to be known as the most powerful warriors the Universe had ever seen or the Stars had witnessed. By their standards, they were still kids, yet displayed remarkable proficiency and control over their powers. Most noteworthy of the powers at this point were Tarquin's time warping, Damaria's healing, Trista's music, Cicero's control over air, Nicasia's sight, Ruadan's control over pain, Magnar's strength, and Ozias' control over shadows.
"All of them, except Cicero, became extremely close, like one family, the kind you chose. Cicero, however, became obsessed with Damaria and wanted her to himself. It was unheard of. Exclusivity was only accepted or expected if you found the other part of your soul, your soulmate. So nobody could understand Cicero's obsession with Damaria, despite him knowing that they weren't soulmates. What nobody also knew was the fact that Cicero could control the element spirit. He allied with the eons old enemies of Seyfret, to harness his powers and to topple everyone, except the girls. He wanted to save Damaria for himself, his sister Trista, and Nicasia, to use her sight.
"When the talks of Cicero attacking Seyfret starting circulating, allies were made, and lines were drawn. It was the first time the galaxies found out who would back them and who wouldn't. And surprisingly, quite a substantial number sided with Cicero, who wanted ultimate freedom to do what they wanted, to not care about others' choices or will. When Cicero attacked, it was all out war. First ever war in the history of existence. Not the way we know it now. It was apocalypse. Planets were decimated, Galaxies annihilated. It was so explosive, that it was believed to be the reason for the whole Big Bang philosophy.
"Cicero and his army did countless unspeakable things. Including manipulating the spirit energy. Remember, for them, honoring will and choice was the most important thing. So for Cicero to use his spirit powers and manipulate people was the highest form of dishonor. But the seven friends, called The Deadly Seven, despite being just kids in their world, fought like hell and battled like Gods. Seyfret and allies prevailed. They won that war. But they also knew that it wasn't the last they'd hear from Cicero and his allies.
"From hundreds of galaxies, after the war, there were only a few left. Less than 40. Can you imagine, if only 10 countries were left in the world? And everyone else, was just wiped out?"
