Xena and I reach The Star.

The murals around have changed. And I feel eyes following me. I find that all the people who were just outlines before, have full expressions, features, and clothes. And somehow I feel the cave itself holding its breath.

Xena and I stumble to a stop in front of The Star. We look at the timer.

15...14...13..

Xena lets the object out of her mouth. I pick it up, aware of the seconds ticking by.

Shit it is all slobbery.

10...9...8...

I wipe it with my shirt.

7...6...5...

I run to The Star and raise my hand to place it.

4...3...2...

The click from the Sun point resonates with the click of the timer.

I am breathing hard. But I hear a collective exhale from around me. It sounded way more than five people exhaling. But I cannot bring myself to care at this moment.

I don't even look at what is happening within The Star. Xena comes and lays down at my feet. I rest my forehead on my hand, the one that's touching the Sun.

The others are all around me.

And I feel the most intense tingle run down my toes and spine. My spine straightens. A ball of warmth unfurls in my gut, and my heart sings. Literally, it sings.

I look up at The Star and see a bright Golden strand reach out to the center. All the other strands are whirling around, and as the strands all meet in the center, there is this explosion of light from everywhere around. Are the walls around me fading? The Star center is now a mass of writhing strands.... And it pulses.

My hand becomes unstuck. I take a step backward and find myself in Liam's arms.

He kisses the top of my head, and half carries me to Logan. Xena comes backward too and sits down beside James.

The Star is still pulsing. I don't know what is happening, but it feels like I am about to take off. The anticipation. The tingle. Everything.

"The walls are fading?" Becca asks looking around.

I look up and yes...the walls of the cave are indeed fading. Not the murals. The actual fucking walls. Just vanishing.

I start hearing drum beats... or maybe it is my heartbeat?

"Do I hear drumbeats?" Ali asks.

Okay then... Not my heartbeat.

The Star pulses, bright.

And just as the last of the wall fades away, The Star explodes.

The Star exploded.

And the strands came writhing out of it, going into each of us. I cannot even explain it, even if I wanted to. The colours that came out when we had placed our respective objects on the points, those colours come back to us, individually.
