⚪Chapter 1: Forgiveness

"She's awake!"
"Angelique, anak. Can you hear us?"
"Ate!"

Angelique slowly opened her eyes. It's very bright and everything's white. Those eyes that are kept shut for more than a year are now getting used to the bright light inside the room.

Her mom, her dad and even her sister, Liyanne, are all panicking by this sudden waking of their loved one. They are all very delighted to see Angel finally waking up. The longing will finally end.

"How are you feeling, Angel?"

"Yanne, call the doctor!" Liyanne immediately obeyed their mom and ran outside.

Angelique seems to be coping up with everything. She tries to think of what last happened but that just caused her a real headache.

'But why am I crying? Why do I feel heavy?'

She asked herself. She instinctively wiped out the tears on her face but they keep falling without her knowing the reason.

"Mom, Dad," she successfully mumbled.

"What do you need?" her mom asked, with this worried and caring voice that Angelique is not used to. "Are you hurt anywhere?"

"What happened?" Angelique asked.

"You have been in a state of comatose for almost two years--"

"Two years?" Angelique asked in horror, not even letting her mom finish what she is trying to say.

The doctor then came right before her mom answered, to check her condition. Everything's going smoothly and everything's normal. They also requested Angelique to avoid getting stressed as it may affect her condition. There's other things said regarding her condition but Liyanne noted them down because Angelique's starting to stress herself out with the long list.

FLASHBACK (Nov. 17, 2015)

Tomorrow is Liam, their brother's birthday. Angelique is planning to take his young brother to the zoo. They asked permission from their parents to go to the zoo today as requested by the young boy. Thankfully, they agreed.

Liam really love animals, while the majority are scared at a very young age. It's his favorite actually, he always watch them in documentaries in TV and he grew to love them.

"Baby Liam," Angelique called out. She is sitting in the living room while waiting for the nanny to finish dressing up Liam.

The young boy ran towards her sister. "Are we going to the zoo now, Ate Angel?"

Angelique nodded as w response that made Liam jump in over-excitement. Their parents gave the nanny a day off today so the two siblings can bond together alone. Liyanne's doing something again today so she won't join the two.

Mr. Ferrer won't be driving them there because he left the house early and Mrs. Ferrer's car is in the repair shop. The two just took a cab.

"Ate? Are there snakes at the zoo, the big ones?"

"Yes, baby. There is. But they bite."

"No, ate. I heard on TV that snakes in the zoo are harmless."

Angelique can't help but awkwardly smile. She isn't sure about that. But still, there's a look of amazement by how smart her brother is. He even knows what Angelique don't!
