Merlin's and Arthur's daughter Kate wakes up from haveing a bad dream and needs her dads to make her feel better.

"Daddy?" a little girl standing next to her parents bed tried to wake one of them up after she woke up from a bed dream.
"Dad" she tried again little bit louder and reached over to her dad's arm and tried to shake it to wake him up which worked because he sat up and looked around
"Katie?" black haired man mumbled when he noticed her and turned on the bedside lamp
"What happened?" he asked concern
"I had a bad dream" Kate mumbled
"Oh honey... come here" Merlin said and raised the girl on the bed, so he could hug her
"It was just a bad dream, nothing more" Merlin said in a calming voice
"But it was scary" Kate mumbled
"I know, I know" Merlin nodded and hugged his daughter closer
"Merlin... what's going on..." Arthur mumbled and opened eyes
"I had a bad dream daddy" Kate said
Arthur sat up moved closer to his daughter and husband
"Sorry to hear that sweetheart" Arthur said and gently moved a hair lock from her face
"What was the dream about?" Merlin asked
"I was... in a forest and it was nice there you know... it looked like magic... I saw a unicorn there so it had to be a good forest because otherwise the unicorn would not be there right?" Kate started to describing what she dreamed of
"Of course, unicorn would not be in some bad place" Merlin nodded seriously
"But then I got lost... and the forest looked different... it looked... not nice anymore" Kate continued
"And then... there was a... I don't know who but someone was there, but they wore a cloak with a hood, so I didn't see who it was. They could do magic, but not the good one and... and they cursed me into a monster... big black cat with big fangs and... and wings... and everyone was scared of me and ran away..." Kate finished and cuddled closer to Merlin who hugged her tighter.
"It's alright Katie..." he mumbled
"It was just a bad dream honey, nothing more" Arthur said quietly
"Daddy is right" Merlin nodded
"It was still scary" Kate mumbled
"I don't doubt that" Arthur agreed
"But... do you wanna know what I am doing when I have a bad dream?" He continued
"What?" she asked and Merlin let her go to hug Arthur
"When I have a bad dream and remember it very well... I just try to think about something that could make the situation in the dream ridiculous" he said
"How?" Kate asked
"Well... how about that someone in the cloak and hood would try to make a step forward and got tangled in the cloak and fell down on his bum?" Arthur suggested
Kate pictured that in her mind
"That would be funny" she giggled
"Right? Not so scary while falling on their face are they now?" Merlin smiled and Kate nodded with another giggle
"They can blame themselves only... I mean who would wear a cloak and a hood in a forest anyway... all the twigs and all the bushes with thorns will get in the way and you'll look like a fool trying to free yourself" Arthur rolled his eyes
"Oh, so you're an expert on forest fashion now?" Merlin risen up one eyebrow almost seriously
"Merlin... come on... everyone should know that cloak and a hood are not in the forest" Arthur also almost seriously replied
"But Gandalf was wearing a cloak in the forest" Kate remembered
"Yeah... Gandalf was" Merlin nodded and looked at his husband
"But Gandalf is awesome and can effort it" Arthur replied immediately
"So only cool people can wear cloaks in the forest then?" Merlin asked
"See? Now you get it" Arthur nodded with a grin
"So that one in my dream was not cool, right?" Kate asked
"Absolutely not, magic should be used only for good things" Merlin said
"Yep" Arthur nodded
"I bet that the unicorn end up finding that guy and kicked his ass" Arthur mumbled and Kate giggled
"Unicorns don't..." Merlin started
"Merlin, it's a horse... horses do kick, therefore unicorns do too... plus unicorns are on another level... you know... with the horn and all..." Arthur interrupted him and explained why is he right
"I hope he did" Kate said quietly
"Merlin?" Arthur looked at his husband
"Alright, alright... the unicorn did find him and kicked his ass" Merlin gave up and Arthur exchange high five with his daughter
"What do you have bad dreams about?" she asked and looked at her dads
"Daddy's worst one is when he can't fit in his clothes anymore... am I right honey?" Merlin said with a grin and looked and his husband and Kate giggled
"Merlin! I am not fat... not even in my dreams, thank you very much" Arthur immediately disagreed
"Sure..." Merlin nodded seriously
"What about you daddy, what is your bad dreams like?" Kate asked and looked at Merlin
"My is when..." Merlin started
"Playing a Mario kart with me and loosing... which is not that much of a difference from when he wakes up, but still" Arthur interrupted him, and he also managed to make their daughter giggle
"What? I am great at that game Arthur" Merlin said shocked (he's not, actually he is terrible at it, but that's not the point, is it?)
"Yes Merlin you are amazing at... arriving to the finish line at some point I'll give you that" Arthur nodded and chuckled
Kate was obviously getting sleepy again.
"Do you wanna stay with us tonight Katie?" Merlin offered her a sleepover.
"I can't..." she began and after a hug to each of her dads and a kiss on her cheek from both of them she got out of the bed
"Kilgharrah and Aithusa would be worried if I didn't come back" she explained that her dragon plushies would not take her absence very well
"Of course they would" Arthur smiled
"Wish them goodnight from us, and sleep well honey" Merlin said
Kate waved at them and run off to her bedroom
Merlin and Arthur looked at each other and laughed little bit. Merlin turned off the bedside lamp and Arthur pulled Merlin closer to him, so he could hug him
"When did you start with the making the bad dreams into funny things by the way?" Merlin asked
"I... never did that. I just thought it might help" Arthur admitted
"You come up with that on the spot?" Merlin asked clearly impressed
"Yeah... there is probably some inspiration from Potter, but... I don't know. If it should make the boggart look funny why it should not work on nightmares right?" Arthur wondered.
"It was pretty genius thinking, I totally can admit that" Merlin complimented his husband
"Thanks love" Arthur smiled and snuggled closer to his husband
"That clown was fucking terrifying" Merlin said after few minutes of silence feeling that he will fall asleep in a bit
"What clown?" Arthur mumbled already falling asleep
"In that scene with the boggart... you know how Parvati ridiculoused the snake in to the clown... the clown was way worse than the snake" Merlin explained
"I hate you..." Arthur mumbled
"If I am gonna dream of that clown I am gonna drown you in the shower" he added and could feel Merlin to giggle
"You can just ridiculous it after you wake up" Merlin reminded him
"There is nothing you can do to that clown Merls... nothing will ever make it look funny" Arthur mumbled actually falling a sleep and Merlin smiled and happily fell asleep.
Luckily none of them had any clowns in their dreams that night.

The next afternoon Leon, Gwaine and Will were at their house and as usually there had to be a few games of Mario kart.
"Come on!" Arthur shouted when Gwaine and Will both beat him in the finished
"Try to keep up old man" Will said and high fived Gwaine
"It's rigged " Arthur mumbled
"No, it just needs talent Princess" Gwaine smiled at his friend
"Daddy we're back" Kate shouted and in the next second ran in the room with Aithusa in her hand
"Ah... hey Katie" Gwaine smiled at the little girl
"Hi guys" Freya greeted the men and went to sit down between Will and Gweine on the floor where they were settled
"Who's the winner?" she asked
"You looking at him" Will said proudly and Kate gave him proud high five
Arthur again mumbled something about Will cheating, but it was too quite
"So what's new?" Gwaine asked her
"Daddy thought me a trick how to make a bad dreams less scary last night" Kate shared with them and smiled at Arthur
"Had a bad dream huh?" Gwaine asked
"Yeah... someone with a hood in a forest cursed me into a monster"
"What? Who dared to?" Gwaine shouted outraged.
"Don't know... they had the hood, so I didn't see them" Kate shrugged her shoulders
"But daddy taught me that the dreams are less scary if I picture something funny happening in them when I wake up... so we came up with that someone getting tangled in that stupid cloak and falling on their bum" she informed them, and the men laughed
"Who wears cloak in the woods anyway?" Will said
"You too Will?" Merlin who just walked in the room asked
"Me too what Merls?" Will asked
"Well, obviously there are fashion forest rules I was not aware of" Merlin explained
"So you would just put on a long cloak and went for a stroll in some forest? Got caught up in the branches and thorns and all of that? Risking tripping over every few minutes?" Will asked
"Come on Will... you're asking the wrong person, Merlin would trip over with or without the cloak" Arthur chuckled
"Hey! I would not ok?" Merlin hit his husbands shoulder, which hardly hurt to be honest.
"And daddy said that the unicorn that was there before probably did find the cloaked someone and kicked their ass" Katie remembered.
"Yep, he totally did" Arthur nodded seriously
"I thought that unicorns are suppose to be..." Leon began
"Protecting kids in the forest and kicking asses of some losers in the hoods? You're absolutely right mate" Gwaine interrupted him seriously
"Yeah, that wanker totally got destroyed from that unicorn dude. Who ever that was will not sit for a month after the unicorn was done with them" Will nodded
"Will... language" Merlin said quietly but amused while Kate and the others laughed
"Alright..." Leon mumbled accepting the new information about the unicorns
"Wanna play with us Katie?" Will asked and before he could reach for another controller Leon offered him his, clearly done with playing for now
"You bet I wanna!" the little girl nodded and sat Aithusa on the floor in front of her so she could have both hands free
Merlin went and sat down on the sofa next to Leon to watch the game
"Not gonna join us Merls?" Gwaine asked friendly
"Oh no, I really don't need to give you a reason for making fun of me" Merlin shook his head
"Like we need a reason for that" Will mumbled and Arthur chuckled
"How can I be best friends with you again?" Merlin wondered
"Because he is funny" Kate replied while picking up the character, she ended up with Shy guy
"Yes, absolutely correct" Will nodded
"What about me? I am not funny?" Gwaine asked when he selected Yoshi as his character
"Totally, that's why you and Will are the best babysitters" Kate nodded immediately
Arthur and Merlin exchanged a look that clearly said "we better think twice before let any of them babysit our child any time soon again"
"Ok, get ready to lose everybody" Will shouted when they were ready on the start, and he and his Luigi were more then ready
"In your dream Willy" Arthur replied ready to win with his Mario
"Boys... come on... you both are gonna see me standing in the finish while you will be finishing the first lap, you know that right?" Gwaine said with confidence that he will be the winner
"See... I said that you're funny uncle Gwaine" Kate said
"Yeah?" Gwaine asked with a smile
"Yeah... funny that you think that you will be in the finish before me" she chuckled and Merlin didn't even try to not laugh at his daughter's sassy side (totally Arthur's fault... aaand maybe little bit of Merlin's as well, but more Arthur's for sure)
"We'll see about that" Gwaine was fully in the racing mode now, and Will with Arthur were no better
The race started and Leon with Merlin were watching and cheering up.
"Come on... faster you useless little..."
"Arthur!"
"Plumber" Arthur finished his sentence when he was last in the end of round 1 out of 3
"Haha..." Will laughed when he took the first place, but Kate and Gwaine with Arthur were right behind him
"Enjoy the first place while you have it, not gonna be much longer" Kate mumbled and Arthur smirked at that (Totally Merlin's fault this behavior by the way... and maybe little bit of Arthur's but definitely more Merlin's)
The second round ended with Arthur in the first place, but again his victory was far from safe, because Will, Gwaine and Kate were close behind him
"Come on, come on..."
"Faster, speed up..."
"Move your... car!"
All of them were trying to make their racers to go faster with some encouraging words
"Yes!" Kate shouted when she got in the finish few seconds before Gwaine followed by Arthur and then Will
"Congrats honey" Merlin smiled at her
"Finally someone showed these three how to play this game" Leon said and the little girl proudly smiled and hugged Aithusa
"Good game" Will and Gwaine both high fived with her
"Good thing you are not after daddy in this but after me sweetheart" Arthur said happily about his daughter's little victory. Nope neither of the men were letting her win because neither Merlin or Arthur are not doing this thing while they are playing some game with their child and their friends are not doing that eider.
"Can we play again please?" she asked
"Totally"
"Sure"
"You think I will leave without retaliation?"
They all agreed of course
"Come on you two, join in, it's gonna be more fun" Gwaine looked at Leon and Merlin
"Yeah... please Leon... please daddy" Kate agreed
"You sure, am I funny like Gwaine and Will?" Leon chucked, but was taking the controller Will was giving him
"You are funny, but not in the same way as they are. But you are the best for bedtime stories reading, they got distract really easily while they are reading" Kate assured him
"Alright then" Leon nodded
"Come on love, it's just a game" Arthur said when he saw that Merlin doesn't look like he really wants to play
"I know" Merlin sighed already accepting the defeat that will come and took the controller in his hands
Leon picked Toad and Merlin picked Bowser, if he shall lose then at least looking badass-like
The race started and Merlin realized that he is not last, which was unusual.
In the end of the round one Merlin was 4th and Leon was 1st
"How am I not last yet?" Merlin wondered, but now he was determined to not lose.
Round two ended and Merlin made it on the 3th position so now it was only Will and Arthur in front of him, Leon got from the 1st place to 5th very quickly
"Ok Merlin... do not mess it up now" Merlin thought
The round three ended with a very unexpected results... Merlin on the 1st place, Will 2nd and Arthur 3th
"I... I won?" Merlin kinda asked
"Yes daddy" his daughter shouted and went to hug her dad who immediately hugged her back
"How did you... how?" Arthur didn't understand, but was kinda impressed by his husband's victory... probably the first one since they started to play this game.
"No idea honey, but better get used to it, cos now I know how good it feels to win at this" Merlin smirked
"Let's be honest Merls, this was probably one of the million situation so... you'll probably just get back to your usually place in the back" Will said, and they all including Merlin laughed
"Another round, champ?" Gwaine raised an eyebrow
"Ok, sure" Merlin nodded and let Kate go, so she can go back to her spot on the floor where was her controller and also her fan girl Aithusa
