Third POV

The next morning, Naruto was walking quickly on his way to the ANBU HQ after being told of it's location by the Hokage. Unfortunately, to get there he had to go through the market. Which was filled with villagers. Naruto used a little bit of his sensory so he could tell what was around him and not cause any major events in which he was to be blamed. He kept his head down and made quick work of passing villagers; however, it did nothing to stop the trembling of fear racking the boys body.

Naruto had made it to a cleared area within the market where few villagers were located. Taking a quick pause from his journey to catch his breath and calm his nerves, Naruto picked up the sound of crying. Lifting his head and looking around, he identified the crying to be to the left of him. Using a stronger level of sensory he built up the image of the area, and saw that only 75ft away was a black haired boy crouched down and crying.

Naruto knew that he had to get to the HQ soon but he had a large urge to help the little boy. He walked over to him and sat down in front of him so that he could be in his eye line while also not appearing as a threat.

"Hey little one. Could you tell me your name and why are you crying?"

The little raven looked up tearfully and gave a shy response through his trembling lips. "I-I'm Sasuke Uc-Uchiha. I lo-st my m-mom."

Naruto looked around but couldn't find anyone who looked like Sasuke. Turning back to him Naruto spoke up, "How about you tell me where the last place you saw her was and we can go there and wait for her together."

Sasuke thought for a second and turned to point at a tomato stand. "We were getting tomatoes and then I turn around and couldn't find her."

Sasuke's tears had dried up by now due the feeling of safety and calmness coming from Naruto. Naruto in turn took Sasuke's hand and walked over to the stand. The two sat down on a bench that was right next to the stand and started talking to make the time go by faster.

Naruto found out that Sasuke was 4 and really like his family, cats, and tomatoes. He found the last fact kinda funny but didn't comment. In return, Naruto told Sasuke that he was 7 and that he like foxes and training.

As the boys were talking a woman with long black raven hair came rushing towards the stand. Catching the boys in her sights she called out to the younger, "Sasuke! My baby! Where did you go! I was so worried!"

Sasuke looked up at the woman before hoping off the bench and into her arms before crying out, "Mommy! I'm sorry, I got lost and couldn't find you. It was so scary! But then Naruto-nii came and helped keep me company until you found me!"

The woman looked up from her son and took in the blond who was sitting on the bench. 'Naruto-kun' At the recognition of the boy she noticed the besides his small smile and little wave he was stiff with tension and his smile didn't reach his eyes. His eyes that seemed to be filled with nervousness and caution. 'Those damn villagers' she cursed out in her head.

"Well thank you Naruto-kun for watching over my little Sasuke." He nodded in response, "As a thank you I would like to invite you over for dinner some time. I can see that Sasu has taken a liking to you so I'm sure he would appreciate it." She said with a eye smile.

Naruto thought about the offer. He was hesitant and scared to take up the offer, 'What if she is like the villagers. What if this all a trick.' He was nervous but when he saw Sasuke's face light up with joy at the idea he simply couldn't let the boy down. "It would be my pleasure ma'am. Thank you for the kind offer. Now I must be going. I'll see you later Sasuke."

Naruto gave a small wave and continued on his walk to ANBU HQ he knew he was running behind schedule so he took to the roofs and ran all the way there. When he entered he was given his gear and told what team he would be joining. Team 88.

Naruto knew it was Iruka's team because the Hokage wanted to at least feel a bit safe amongst his team. As he walked down the hall, to room 88, to meet his team he thought about the information he had been given. His team was a 5 man cell made up of mostly the youngest members of ANBU. He was given their true names, but Naruto was given the code names of those on his team: Captain Dolphin, 2nd in command Weasel, Crow, and Cat.
