I feel a tap on my shoulder... more like a hand, a soft, small hand that couldnt hurt a fly, one that belong to who i assumed was Saki. I open my eyes to realize i was at the foot of Saki's bed. I fell asleep. I looked towards her but instead of laying down she was letting me use her lap as a pillow. It was soft but of course got uncomfortable after a certain amount of time. "Oh sorry, didnt mean to just fall asleep on you." I say with a awkward smile as i sit up. "Ill just get up. Wouldnt want your legs to fall asleep." I stand up and begin collecting the dishes we used as i hear scribbling coming from behind me. I turn to see Saki holding her notepad up to me as it reads, 'You're not selfish enough.' My face wrinkles. I narrow my eyes and stare at her for a sec before I look away and get the dishes together. "I have a vague idea of what you mean but its fine, I usually take care of others." I walk downstairs and wash the dishes we used. I hear a rustle of keys and see Ms. Kurosawa. She was quite tall, taller than me. 'Definitely a foreigner' I said in my head. She was probably two meters tall. She was slim but had this very "high-status" vibe to her, all business type of vibe. "Oh Rui! What a suprise." She said as her face made a soft motherly smile. "Have you been taking care of my little willow tree?" I stood there confused, "Willow tree?" She nodded, "Isaki." I chuckle a bit, "ohh ok. Thats a cute nickname, but yes i have." She smiled and walked up to me and gave me a kiss on my forehead. "Thank you, you're too kind sometimes. You should be more selfish."
I sit on the couch in the living room at Saki's house. I stare at the ceiling and space out. 'Be more selfish?' I think to myself. My body relaxes and I end up drifting off to sleep. 'Poke, poke, poke' I feel someone poking my cheek and I open my eyes. I look to my left and its Saki on my right. "Hi?" I say with a sleepy voice. She lets out a small giggle and my eyes light up, Ive never heard her laugh before and it kind of startled me. "Did... did you just laugh?" I said, "its... its cute." I blush and look away, because of my light skin tone its very easy to see and Saki smiles. I stand up and turn to her. "Ive never asked..." I said, "why do you never talk?"
Its two days later and I havent seen or heard from Isaki, shes avoiding me and Shouko is starting to get clingy and more unpredictable. "Ruisu dear dinner is ready." I hear my mothers soft voice say from the bottom of the stairs. I always forget how quiet the house is- even though its like that because my mother has a soft voice. I dont make much noise and ken is relatively quiet and calm unless he eats candy or something and my father almost never yells in the house or around my mother. We usually are this quite around my mother because of her ears being hypersensitive, we used to even think she could hear heartbeats... because she can. I go down to eat, we sit quietly with only the sounds of metal hitting fine china. I end up spacing out and snap out of it in my room and its the dead of night. I lay down without even taking a shower or changing my clothes. I fall asleep unaware to what I did to that girl next door.
