Part 7 | Sophie

Sophie and Keefe were led to their seats by Lauralie who scurried off to her friends to get ready for her performance. Keefe and Sophie were sitting next to Biana and Tam and started talking about the children. Soon Fitz walked over and greeted everyone. He was so handsome as an adult. Her heart did a little flip as he joked "It's like the old days from lunch, sitting together talking." Fitz commented. Keefe smiled, "But now, I'm married to the lovely Lady." Sophie turned as Keefe leaned in and kissed her. 

Her heart fluttered and her heart stopped. Why is he kissing me? I don't love him! Stop enjoying it! I'm dating Fitz!! They broke apart and Stina walked onto the stage gracefully. "Thank you all for coming this evening. This is more than a celebration, but a homecoming. Old friends unite, and I remember going to school with everyone of you. Certain people more than most" She winked in Sophie's group's direction. "These children will do very well here, and thanks to the donation's my in-laws have made, so much more is possible. Thank you. And let us start with the Year 1s."

But Sophie's view morphed as the world faded into something new.

This time, the colors flashed and brightened, the colors formed into shapes, which turned into people. Sophie was sitting with Fitz at a lunch session at Foxfire. She was wearing her normal uniform and saw Keefe staring at Fitz and Sophie laughing with each other. Fitz leaned in and kissed her and Sophie started relaxing until Lihn stormed in and screamed at Sophie, "You shouldn't be with him! I SHOULD! The whole lunch room looked at them and Sophie stood up. "Lihn calm down. Let's just be rational we don't need to do this now!" Sophie told Lihn but she kept persisting. "Just because Keefe and Fitz both love you, doesn't mean you deserve it! LET ME HAVE A CHANCE." She pushed past Sophie and sat on Fitz's lap and he jumped up. "DON'T LIHN. I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND." Lihn got up from the floor and looked at Sophie. "THIS IS YOUR FAULT." She screamed at Sophie, as Keefe and Tam walked over to help her get up, but Fitz yelled at Keefe, "WHY ARE YOU HELPING HER? SHE IS THE PROBLEM, KEEFE!" 

Keefe looked up at Fitz and calmly replied, "She is still my friend." Fitz seethed. "AM I THE ONLY ONE WITH SOPHIE? DON'T YOU CARE ABOUT H-" Keefe's eyes bulged, "YOU THINK I DON'T CARE ABOUT HER? HOW DARE YOU!" Sophie ran in the middle of them, pushing both of their chests apart, but Fitz grabbed her and spun her away as she landed on a girl sitting behind them. "I-I'm sorry!" And she rejoined the argument as Keefe tried to land a punch on Fitz.

"DON'T TOUCH HER!" Fitz ducked and tried punching him. "I'M PROTECTING HER FROM YOU! I am her BOYFRIEND!" Lihn jumped up and ran to Fitz clinging to his arm "WHICH SHE DOESN'T DESERVE. TAKE ME INSTEAD! YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT, FITZ VACKER!" Sophie ran over and tried to reason with Lihn. "Why do you get to say that to me Li-" Sophie realised she was being drowned out by Lihn, Fitz, and Keefe's shouts. 

"YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SAY THAT TO ME! I AM TRYING TO BE NICE, BUT YOU ARE ALL MAKING IT SO HARD! I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell but can we STOP! I just want to eat lunch, because i am really hungry. Really, really hungry." She sat back down and stared at her food plate completely still. Lihn walked out of the room with Tam stomping behind her. Keefe sat back down between Biana and Dex, and Fitz sat down next to Sophie wrapping her in a hug.

"I'm so sorry Soph. I was just angry, and I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm sorry." Sophie nodded and motioned between Fitz and Keefe. "I'm sorry Keefe." Keefe looked up at Fitz, and his brows furrowed. "I'm no-" "KEEFE SENCEN." Keefe looked at Sophie who was still having a staring match with her pink slush. "I shouldn't have tried to hit you, and I'm sorry Fitz. I am".

After they made up the whole room was silent as Tam walked in. "Lihn's having a bad day. Can we please forget about this?" The whole group nodded, but somewhere inside Sophie clicked as if making a revelation. What if Fitz were to hit her? Sophie shivered and Fitz held her tighter, reminding her of a grabbing motion and she suddenly felt restricted. "I'm gonna talk to Lihn." Sophie stood up before she heard everyones protests.

She wandered the hall until she saw Lihn sobbing on a bench. She approached slowly and rested a hand on Lihn's shoulder and she looked up at Sophie eyes filled with tears. "I'm sorry Sophie. I-I don't know what went over me. I really hope you're okay."

Sophie sat down beside Lihn and sighed. "I'm okay. And I don't blame you. I will if we stop being friends though. I'm sorry. I didn't realise me and Fitz would cause issues between us. Girlfriends first." She smiled and hugged Lihn tightly. She walked back into the lunch hall where there was slight chatter. She smiled weekly, and as the bell rang she and her friends walked to their next sessions and agreed to meet at Everglen later.

She changed into a white ruffly tunic with a red overcoat and her hair was in a twisty hair tie. She leaped to Everglen and found her friends at the usual spot for base quest.

"DON'T PRETEND TO BE SORRY FITZ, YOU JUST SAID THAT TO PLEASE OUR LOVELY BLONDIE!" Biana turned and saw Sophie and her jaw dropped open, and Sophie waited where she was. "I MEANT IT KEEFE, AND SHE IS MORE THAN 'OUR LOVELY BLONDIE' SHE IS THE MOONLARK AND I THINK IT WOUD BE WISE, NOT TO MAKE HER MAD!" Fitz threw his arms to his side. "SO YOU DIDN'T MEAN IT THEN? AND YOUR ONLY DATING HER TO MAKE YOURSELF EVEN MORE FAMOUS? THE LAST NAME NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU, HUH?" Keefe gritted his teeth with Fitz's reply. "I LOVE SOPHIE, AND HER BEING HERSELF IS A BONOUS, I'LL ADMIT IT FINE!" Sophie gasped as her eyes started watering, Keefe and Fitz obviously heard the gasp and Biana covered for her. "HOW DARE YOU!" 

It was all a blur as Keefe and Fitz started getting physical. Sophie ran in and levitated both of them, her anger enhancing her skill. "HOW DARE YOU BOTH. FITZ, I THOUGHT YOU MEANT IT, BUT YOU JUST LIKE MY TITLE! I AM NOBODIES 'BLONDIE' KEEFE!" She turned her head to face Keefe. "YOU ARE BOTH MORONS WHO I REFUSE TO CARE FOR ANYMORE! LEAVE ME ALONE, OKAY! CAN YOU DO THAT FOR ME? HUH? CAN YOU?" Sophie walked off and motioned for Biana to follow and dropped Keefe and Fitz in a tree. Biana chased Sophie as she sprinted deeper into the wood. Sophie dropped to her knees and started crying. 

Biana rushed up to hug Sophie and they sat their hug for who knows how long. They heard rustling behind them a few times, but they were never found. "I'm so sorry Sophie. They are stupid. You and me, okay?" Sophie nodded and wiped her tears. "Do you think Fitz and Dex meant it?" Sophie asked Biana, hoping she would say no. "I think... Well," She puffed out a breath. "They may have meant some things, but I don't think, for Fit and Keefe's sake they meant all of what they said." Sophie nodded and excused herself, telling Biana she needed to be alone as she wandered through the forest, hoping to get closer to the gate. 

As she stumbled upon the gate, Fitz was there, his eyes red and puffy. He looked up and saw Sophie but she just walked past him and tried to ignore what he was saying, but she still heard everything. "Sophie I didn't mean anything I said. I was telling Keefe all those things to get him off my back. I love you Sophie, and I don't care about you being the Moonlark." Sophie kept walking and forcing her eyes shut as she felt warmth on her lips and opened her eyes and pushed him back, whispering "Havenfield."

i really hope you liked this chapter!! i've worked on it my whole evening (loll) , you'll see the way fake sophie would react and what keefe sees in the moment, because this is a year after the splotching match if that makes sense. so a year older sophie will be slightly different. if you have any questions just ask! xx
