-the next morning
A little knock on the door woke me up. A few seconds later, April peeked through the open door. Right behind her a tall man. 'Oh sorry. Did we wake you up?' 'Kind of, but I'm still used to the army times, so don't worry. Just try to be quiet and don't wake Eddie up.' 'Of course and look how cute you two were sleeping.' (picture above) Only now did I noticed, that Eddie took the pillow, that Buck had brought, laid it on my bed and slept peacefully on it. I offered him to sleep with me in the bed but he didn't want to. While I looked at Eddie and brushed him a few times through his hair, April took a photo. 'Sky this is my husband Jackson. Jackson this is Sky, a friend from the army.', she said introducing us. 'It's nice to finally see you in real life Jackson. I just saw you on pictures and a few times, when I walked behind April, when you two were facetiming.' 'Same for me. April told me really much about you. I admire you for what you do right on the front line. April, on the other hand, is a little further away from it and I'm very happy about that.' 'But even there she makes a really good job.' 'I believe that.' Then Jackson's phone buzzed. 'I have to go. A burn victim is in the ER. It was nice meeting you Sky.' 'You too. Good luck with that patient.' 'Thank you. I see you later baby.' 'Yes. Now go and save a life.' With that Jackson runs out and down into the ER. 'Well I have to go too Sky. Visits. I'm coming with a few more doctors, when it's your time for visit.' 'Go do your Job April. You don't get paid to talk to me the whole day' I said laughing 'but please send me the photos, before the visit starts.' 'I'll do that. See you in a few minutes.' 'See ya. And now go and treat patients.' I said, while April starts to walk out. I can't help it and throw my pillow at her. 'HEY! If you keep doing like that, I'm going to let you be here one more day Sky.' 'Oh hell no. I just want to go home.' With that April disappeared. I was at my phone, when Eddie started to wake up. 'Good morning baby. Did you sleep well?' 'Kind of' he said chuckling. My phone started buzzing, which means, that April send me the photos. 'Look how cute you were sleeping.' 'But it wasn't comfortable.' 'I told you, that you can sleep in the bed with me, but you didn't want to.'
A few minutes later April comes through the door with some other doctors. 'Dr. Grey, please present.' A young woman with long brown hair stepped a bit forward and started. 'Skylar Diaz. 28. Brought to the hospital with 3 gunshot wounds. One flesh wound in the lower abdomen and two entry wounds in the left thigh. Vitals are stable after bullet removal yesterday.' 'Thank you Doctor Grey. Sky if you don' have any problems or pain you're free to go.' 'I'm fine April. Seriously. These aren't my first gunshot wounds and they were all worse.' 'Good. I'll bring you the discharge papers in a few minutes.' 'Thanks April.' With that they leave my room and Eddie start to collect our things. April comes back into the room and give me the papers to sign. She had crutches with her which I need for the next few days.
We didn't drive home. We went to visit Athena at work and ask her if we can have a look at the gun after I told her my suspicion. And I really hoped that I was wrong about the fire damper, but sadly I wasn't.
