(Krisha POV)
Fast forward two months and ugh! Summer is so boring. I literally haven't done anything. I also haven't seen Shrivan in a while. N-n-not that it matters, but like, just saying. I decide to go to the tennis courts in Kavya and Harathi's neighborhood, which also just happens to be Shrivan and Vani's neighborhood. My and my dad get their around 8 P.M., but we realize that we forgot to get the entrance keycard form Harathi, but it doesn't matter because we see someone we know already using it, so they can just let us in. Shrivan's dad is rallying with the silhouette of a tall, scraggly kid. I know it's not Vani, because she's pretty short. Not that I can really say anything, seeing that I'm pretty short, too. But I'm still taller than her.
We approach the courts, and see the same silhouette hitting pretty slow shots. Lame. As we get closer, my suspicions are confirmed. It's Shrivan. He turns around to see us waiting at the gate, and smiles widely. He runs over to open the gate really fast. Almost like he's excited that I'm here...
(Shrivan POV)
Of course I'm excited that she's here. Well... sorta. I'm kinda nervous, actually. What if she thinks I'm bad at tennis? That would be embarrassing! Well, actually, she's already seen me trying to kiss her while she was unconcious and crying my eyeballs out in the bathroom. Not sure I can really embarrass myself much more.
They're about to go onto the other court, when I say, "Hey, why don't you come play with us?"
Maybe I can tell her about my feelings now. Krisha looks at her dad, and then back at me before saying, "sure."
Yes! She comes over to my side, and her dad joins mine. This is even better. I can actually talk to her now. We start playing and I can tell that she hasn't played in a while. She swings her racquet and misses a ball that flies right past her and I cant help but burst out laughing. What can I say? It's human tendency. She looks at me furiously, and tells me to shut up, so I immediately do. I start getting angry at myself for laughing. How will she ever like me now?
(Krisha POV)
That was very embarrassing. VERY. embarrassing. I hear Shrivan laughing very loudly next to me and I turn to him and yell at him to shut up. VERY. loudly. To my surprise, he does, and even seems very sad afterwards. VERY. sad. Ok, I'll stop now. But in all seriousness, was I too rude to him? I hope not. Then, he'll never like me... Not that I care. God, I know I said I would stop denying it, but it's just very embarrassing. VERY. embarrassing. Ok, bye.
(Shrivan POV)
We've been playing for about ten minutes and neither or us have really said anything to each other besides the whole me laughing at her, her yelling at me thing. Uhmmm what do I say?
"So, uh, do you play tennis a lot?" I ask.
She hits a shot, and then says, "Not, really. I haven't played all summer. You?"
"I come here every night," I tell her.
"Oh, that's cool," she says. "I can't since I don't live here and I don't have the key card. I usually get it from Harathi whenever I do come, though."
I nod, as an idea comes to my head.
"Well, since I'm here every night, maybe you should come more often, you know, so you don't have to worry about getting the keycard, and maybe we could play against each other more," I suggest. "Since it's good practice of course... no other reason, definitely."
Oh shoot. Did that sound too desperate?
